1. Bank card identification:

1.1. Identify the Bank card presented for payment (hereinafter also referred to as the "card"), perform an external examination of the card in order to determine its authenticity and validity.
1.2. Do not service cards that have not yet expired or have not yet expired (the expiration date of the card is indicated on its front side). The validity period of the card reflects the start date of the card and the date of its expiration (for example, 07/00 07/02). Sometimes the validity period of the card may contain only the date of its expiration. The start and end dates of the card validity period are located below the number embossed (embossed in a special way) on the card. The card is valid from 00:00 on the first day of the month indicated on it (in our example: - from 00:00 on July 1, 2000) until 24:00 inclusive on the last day of the month indicated on it (in the example: - until 24:00 inclusive on July 31, 2002 ).

2.2. Make sure that the Holder's signature is present on the reverse side of the card and that there are no signs of forgery of the signature strip itself. In case an attempt was made to change the signature on the panel, the word "VOID" (invalid) will appear on the panel. If the signature on the signature strip differs from the signature on the slip/check, be sure to ask the Holder to sign again or present an identity document, the details of which must be entered on the slip or on the front side of the terminal check. If there is no signature on the back of the card, invite the Holder to sign the card and present an identity document containing a sample of his signature. Eurocard/MasterCard cards

At the top front side The card contains the name of the issuer (the bank or financial company that issued the card) and/or their emblem.

On the right side of the card is the MasterCard logo in the form of two intersecting circles in red and yellow (or both black) with the inscription “MasterCard”. European bank cards may also have the Eurocard logo, in the form of a stylized inscription above the MasterCard logo. The Eurocard logo can only be combined with the MasterCard logo.

The card has a hologram of two alternative designs:

1) the first design represents two intersecting earth hemispheres with the image of the continents and the meridian grid. When the map is rotated, in the rays of light, the meridian grid becomes three-dimensional. In ultraviolet light, the letters “MC” should be visible on the hologram, this design is made on cards made before January 1, 1997;

2) the second design has the following differences compared to the first one: there is no meridian grid; the outlines of the intersecting earth hemispheres with the image of the continents are highlighted; the background along the edges of the hologram contains the inscription “MasterCard” in two alternating colors; the intersecting rings are filled with micro-engraved repeating letters “MC”, visible only at 5x magnification.

The card has embossed (embossed) information in several lines. The first line embossed a number that Always starts with the number “5” and consists of 16 digits grouped in 4 groups of 4 digits with one spacing between each group (5XXX XXXX XXXX XXXX). The last three or four digits of the number are embossed on the hologram. The second line contains the following information (from left to right):

An embossed or printed four-digit number in small print directly below the embossed card number (BIN of the issuing bank), must always match the first four digits of the card number;

Abbreviated name of the issuing bank (possible, but not required);

Card expiry date.

MasterCard security symbol in the form of combined letters made in a special format “ MC ”.

In ultraviolet light, the letter M is displayed on the front side of the card in the lower left corner, and the letter C is displayed in the lower right corner near the hologram

On the reverse side cards must be:

Magnetic stripe for electronic payments, located at the top of the card.

Signature panel. The position of the client's signature panel should not coincide with the information embossed on the front side of the card and with the magnetic stripe. The signature panel should contain the following distinguishing features:

The panel shall bear the slanted repeating inscription “MasterCard” in red, blue and yellow.

The signature panel is designed in such a way that any attempt to erase or destroy the signature will damage the panel and the inscription “MasterCard”. Therefore, it is necessary to check the integrity of the panel and the presence of the inscription “MasterCard”.

The panel must be marked with: the last four digits of the card number (or the full sixteen-digit card number - four groups of four digits) and a three-digit card validity code. The card number and card validity code must be completely on the signature panel.

If the Cirrus/Maestro card is combined with another payment system, the card number may begin with the number 6. On some cards, only the first four and last four digits of the number are imprinted for security. In most cases, the number on the cards is applied by laser or printed in such a way as to exclude the possibility of obtaining an imprint of the card on the imprinter.

On reverse side cards can be marked with the Cirrus logos (two intersecting circles of blue and light blue with the inscription “Cirrus” in the center) and EC (EuroCheque - the image of the letters EC, the card holder icon and the electronic keyboard). The card has a hologram depicting a flying dove. When the card is turned, in the rays of light, the dove "moves" its wings. If the image does not change when the card is rotated or the dove is not visible, this means that the card is fake.

The first line embossed a number, which consists of 13 or 16 digits and always starts with “4”. The digits of the number can be grouped as follows: for a 13-digit number 4XXX XXX XXX XXX; for 16 digit number 4XXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. Above or below the embossed number, four digits are typographically printed, coinciding with the first four digits of the card number. If they do not match or are missing, then the card may be fake. The last three or four digits of the number must be embossed on the hologram.

On Classic, Businesses, or Premier(Gold) produced prior to 1997, this security symbol may look like this: “ CV ”, ”BV " or " PV " respectively. Without the letter " V ” in one of these options, the card is invalid.

The third and fourth lines are used for the surname of the cardholder and service information for corporate clients (name of the company, bank, etc.). If the name of the company is on the third line, the cardholder's name must be embossed on the fourth and vice versa.

In ultraviolet light, the image of a dove appears in the center of the front of the card.

On reverse side cards must be: a magnetic stripe for electronic payments, located at the top of the card, a signature panel and additional information about the issuing bank. On the front side there is an inscription “Electronic use only”, which means that this payment product can be used with authorization only through electronic terminals (POS terminals). The card number, expiration date and customer name are lasered or printed, not stamped. Under the card number must be the card issuing bank identification number (BIN), which must match the first four digits of the card number. The laminating film peels off at the edges of the card, in the area of the hologram, or does not adhere tightly to the plastic at the place where the card number is embossed;

The microprinting around the VISA logo is almost unreadable and easily erased from the card;

For VISA cards - the four digits printed above the card number do not match the first digits of the embossed number or are missing;

4.2. Try to withdraw the card if the card has signs of obvious forgery listed in clause 2.4 of these Instructions or the client is very nervous, signs hesitantly, trying to forge a signature. To do this, try to be calm and polite, issue a trading slip as usual in accordance with clause 3.2, ask the client for documents proving his identity, enter the document data in the slip, ask the client to sign on the slip, when performing voice authorization, tell the operator “Perform authorization CODE 10”, then follow the instructions of the operator, try to answer questions only “yes” or “no”.

4.3. If the operator has received an instruction to withdraw the card or the message “REMOVE CARD” appears on the display of the electronic terminal, then:

Try to remain calm and polite;

Tell the customer that you have been instructed to hold the card and advise the cardholder to contact their bank for an explanation;

If possible, the card should be seized by reasonable means. If there are threats from the cardholder, return the card to him;

If you managed to remove the card, to avoid its further use, cut the card to length under the embossed card number, without affecting the magnetic stripe, hologram, microchip (if any) and card number. If the card is fake or altered, these elements may become evidence;

Regardless of whether you were able to withdraw the card or not, you must call the Authorization Center or the Call Center for further instructions. For the withdrawal of the card, the employee of the Company receives a reward equivalent to 25 US dollars on VISA and Eurocard/MasterCard cards .

5. PROCEDURE FOR CARDS LEFT AT A SERVICE POINT

If a cardholder has forgotten their card at a service point, the following requirements must be met:

The card must be kept for 48 hours in a safe place.

If during this time the loss of the card is declared, it can be transferred only after determining the ownership of the card by the applicant (comparing his signature in the passport with the signature on the card, if there is a photograph - identification).

If the card is not claimed within 48 hours, the card is transferred to CB "EAST BRIDGE BANK" with a cover letter.

6. REPORTING.

6.1. For enterprises equipped with electronic terminals at the end of the day, no later than 20-00 hours Moscow time, it is necessary to perform the operation "Closing the day" ("Closing the terminal"). If transactions were carried out during the day, the terminal will print the final check. A copy of the final check must be submitted to CB "EAST BRIDGE BANK" no later than 14:00 on the next working day. At least 1 (one) time per month, send to CB "EAST BRIDGE BANK" copies of the final checks and checks of the electronic terminal, certified by the signatures of authorized persons of the enterprise and the seal of the enterprise.

6.2. For businesses equipped with an imprinter, it is necessary not later than 7 (seven) calendar days from the date of the transaction, issue the final slip for collection to the bank. For each type of card (VISA or Eurocard/MasterCard), as well as for the return credit slip, separate final slips are filled in with the corresponding trading slips attached to it. Credit slips must be collected on the day of the transaction.

To complete the final slip, you must:

Fill in the following columns in the final slip:

· "Day/Month/Year" - the date of the slip collection day is entered;

· "Number of slips" (indicate the total number of attached trading slips for the corresponding type of cards and/or currency);

· "Total amount for slips" (attached to this final slip);

· "Type of currency";

· "Signature of the responsible person";

Roll the final slip on the imprinter;

Attach only third copies of trading slips (“Bank copy”/“Bank”) to the final slip.

In the case of issuing a final slip for return transactions, it is necessary to indicate “Refund” in the “Total amount for slips” column.

Transfer of money to the account of the trading company is carried out on the basis of the final slip. If among the trading slips collected for one final slip there is a slip issued with violations of the Instructions or with errors, the transfer of the entire amount of the final slip will be delayed until the reasons for the incorrect registration of the trading slip are clarified.

In case of incorrect registration of the final slip (the collected trading slips are not divided by card type, by type of currency, the total amount by slips is incorrectly indicated, etc.), it is necessary to issue a new final slip and transfer them to CB EAST BRIDGE BANK. On the final slip in the upper left corner, write “Reissued”.

3.3. Certificates of withdrawal of cards together with the withdrawn cards must be submitted to CB "EAST BRIDGE BANK" no later than the next business day from the date of withdrawal of the card.

7. CHECK THE CARD.

7.1. Before making a slip on the card, you need to check:

§ textured view of the map;

§ card expiry date;

§ presence of the client's signature.

Regardless of the amount of the transaction, the cashier should ask the client to present an identity document (passport, identity card) and enter the data of the document on the slip.

When servicing the card on an imprinter, you need to request a transaction confirmation code at the authorization center.

When requesting a code, you must state the company's plate number, card number, its validity period and the amount in rubles. It is imperative to know the commands that can be given to you:

§ “Your code is ....”. The code dictated by the operator must be accurately and accurately recorded on the slip in the “authorization code” column. The code can be numeric, alphabetic or mixed.

§ "Refusal". This response means that the requested amount is not confirmed. The reason for the refusal can only be found out by the cardholder by contacting their bank. If such a response is received, you can offer the client:

§ pay with another card;

§ pay in cash.

§ When receiving a command withdraw the card see instructions on security measures when providing card services.

At the slightest suspicion that the card is counterfeit or not presented by its rightful holder, see the instructions on security measures when providing card services.

If, after receiving the confirmation code, the transaction on the card is not completed, you must immediately call the authorization center and cancel the code, or perform the corresponding operation on the electronic terminal.

7.2. Sleep design

The slip consists of three copies:

§ the first copy - enterprises;

§ the second copy - the client;

§ the third - Bank - dense.

1. Insert the card into the small slot of the rolling machine face up, then put the slip blank into the large slot so that its upper part overlaps the lower part of the card with raised numbers and letters, roll the imprinter roller right and left. Rolling to the right, you will receive an imprint from the card, rolling to the left, the cliché of the enterprise is imprinted. On each copy of the slip, the details of the card (CARDHOLDER) and the cliche of the enterprise (MERCHANT) must be clearly printed.

2. Enter the date of the transaction Data/Date).

If the identity of the signatures is in doubt, ask the cardholder to present a passport, and in case of successful identification, write the passport data on the front side of the slip in a free space and ask the client to re-sign the slip.

9. Return the second copy of the slip (cardholder/client) to the cardholder. The first copy of the slip (merchant / enterprise) remains with the Enterprise for reporting, the third copy is transferred with a summary report to the Payment Systems Department of MDM-Bank at the address, room 712.

Responsibility for the incorrect design of the slip rests with the persons involved in their design.

7.3. Issuance of a credit slip

Refunds for services provided by cards are never issued in cash. If the return occurs at the initiative of the holder, a credit slip is issued.

For this:

1. Fill out the credit slip by indicating on it date return of goods to the point of sale, amount reimbursement to the cardholder, specify your last name.

2. Get holder's signature slip cards.

3. Second give a copy of the credit slip to the cardholder, third- remains with the Company, first- is transferred to the Department of Payment Systems of MDM-Bank at the address, room 712.

More and more people use payment cards. No wonder - they are easy to use and make life much easier. They allow you to make non-cash payments in stores and on the Internet, withdraw money from an ATM, and also have many useful features (bonus program, access to discounts, access to online banking). However, do you know how this small piece of plastic works, and what information should be on the front and back of a bank card?

All payment cards, regardless of which bank issues them - must be made of flexible plastic, have an identical format and contain certain elements.

Bank card sizes

Standard card sizes were defined in 1985 by ISO (International Organization for Standardization - Eng. International Organization for Standardization). In accordance with the ISO/IEC 7810 standard, each payment card must be 53.98 mm high, 85.6 mm wide and 0.76 mm thick (this is the so-called ID-1 format). The card must have rounded edges with a radius of 3.18mm.

Various details presented on the map and the location of some elements are also subject to standardization. In addition, the ISO standard defines a method for recording data in a magnetic stripe or a microprocessor (chip) built into a card.

Obverse - the front side of a bank card

In accordance with ISO standards, the following data must be indicated on the front (front) side of a bank card:

Name and brand name (logo) of the card issuing bank

This data is placed at the top of the map: in the center or in the left corner.

Card number

The card number is located in the central part of the card and is a sequence of 16 digits written in 4 blocks of 4 digits. Contains information about the cardholder's account, the bank that issued it and the payment system to which the card belongs.

First digit informs about the industry affiliation of the financial organization that issued the card.

For example:

  • 1 and 2 reserved for airlines
  • 3 - for T&E club cards
  • 4, 5 and 6 - for financial institutions such as Sberbank
  • 7 - for a network of fuel sales points
  • 8 - for telecommunication networks

Four, five and six indicate the payment system in which the card works. 4 - VISA, 5 - for MasterCard plastic, 6 - for regional payment systems.

Next 5 digits determine the financial institution that issued the card to us.

First six digits is a BIN (Bank Identification Number), sometimes referred to as a "prefix".

next nine digits– identifier of the account number of the client who is the cardholder.

Last sixteenth digit- this is the so-called check digit, which is calculated based on the Luhn algorithm. It allows you to check the correctness of the entered sequence of numbers.

The check digit performs an important function, especially during online transactions. When we enter the card number, our algorithm-based computer makes instant calculations and validates the entry. An identical operation is performed by the computer receiving the data (ie, the merchant's computer).

Due to the fact that the check digit is an additional form of protection for online cashless transactions, we are not able to "fake" the card number in such a way that the payment is debited from the account of another person.

Important! The card number does not match the bank account number.

The most common mistakes made when entering numbers are:

  • one error: a instead of b (60%-95% of all errors)
  • skipping or adding a number (from 10% to 20%)
  • swap adjacent numbers - the so-called Czech error (from 10% to 20%)
  • twin errors: aa entered as bb (0.5% to 1.5%)
  • substitution of adjacent digits: acb entered as bca (0.5% to 1.5%)
  • twin spaced digit errors: aca as bcb (below 1%)

Card expiry date

The expiration date of the card is indicated by embossing at the bottom, under the card number. The current recording format is MM/YY (sometimes prefixed with VALID THRU). On the cards of some banks, the starting date of the card may also be indicated.

The validity period of payment cards is determined individually by each financial institution. Most often this is a period of one to 3 years, however, there are longer periods.

The card can be used until the last day of the month in which it expires - after this period, the bank issues a new card before the old one expires.

Organization logo and hologram

As a rule, the logo and hologram are located in the lower right corner of the card ( although recently some members place a hologram of the organization that issued the card on the reverse rather than on the front side).

A hologram can be a pattern or text that is laser-etched onto a very thin, metallic film and which, depending on the tilt of the card, gives the impression of being two- or three-dimensional.

For the first time, the hologram was used by the MasterCard organization, and now all payment systems use it. A three-dimensional dove is placed on VISA cards, MasterCard hologram contains the MasterCard inscription and the symbol of the connected globes. Holographic ones do not allow falsifying a card using simple copying methods, therefore they are an important element in the protection of bank cards.

Microprocessor (chip)

It has the shape of a square or rectangle located to the left of the card, under the logo and name of the bank. The module is embedded using a special adhesive that reacts chemically with the plastic of the card, making it impossible to remove it without damaging the plastic.

Name and surname of the cardholder (optional)

The name and surname of the cardholder are placed in the lower left corner of the card. In the case of business cards, the name of the company may be placed on the personal card instead of the name and surname of the owner.

Designation of the region of validity of the map

Map local (national)– can only be used in the country where the publisher is located. The bank then sets special information on the front side, for example, "Valid only in Russia".

Sometimes cards marked EUROCARD / MasterCard or VISA may be of the local type, intended only for use in the territory of a given country. Local cards cannot be used abroad, because when you try to pay, the bank automatically blocks it.

An international card is used to make transactions both in the country in which the issuer is located and abroad. Can be used at any point of sale or ATM that displays your card logo.

Card type

Each payment system provides payment cards designed for different types of customers (gold, prestige, business, etc.). As a rule, these cards differ from the rest in graphic design, for example, the gold background color is reserved for Gold cards, silver for Silver cards. Sometimes, however, the type of card is also indicated on the front side in the form of letters.

Additional elements

The following elements may also be placed on the front side of the card:

  • photo of the owner (optional);
  • special characters such as contactless payment symbol;
  • protection element, visible only in ultraviolet rays.

Reverse - the reverse side of a bank card

The reverse contains much fewer elements. The most important of them are:

magnetic stripe

The magnetic stripe has dimensions of 12x86 mm and contains an encoded set of data about the cardholder and his account, as well as a personal identification number (PIN). It consists of three parallel magnetic strips, information from which is read through a magnetic head installed in an ATM or terminal.

The first page contains the name and surname of the cardholder and data on the country and bank that issued the card. On the second track, the card number, its expiration date and the service code necessary for the proper execution of the transaction are recorded. And the third lane is used to store the bank's own information.

The magnetic strip is additionally protected against forgery by means of microprinting, as well as elements visible only in ultraviolet rays.

Signature field

The signature field, that is, the silicone layer on which the cardholder leaves his signature. The course is also protected by design elements that are invisible to the eye or can only be seen under ultraviolet light.

In addition, a thin layer of transparent white paint is placed on the field, which forms the substrate for the signature. An attempt to remove the signature for the purpose of re-drawing entails the removal of the base, then the inscription "card expired" will appear in this place.

Code CVC2 / CVV2

The three-digit code CVC2 / CVV2 is indicated directly in the signature field. It provides security for remote transactions in which it is not possible to enter a PIN code. It is indicated on the card, and is also stored in the bank's information system. It must not be disclosed to third parties!

  • CVC2 code (Card Verification Code 2)– used to confirm remote MO/TO transactions on MasterCard cards.
  • CVV2 code (Card Verification Value 2)– a three-digit code that allows you to identify the cardholder of the Visa Electron and Visa Gold cards.
  • American Express Cards– a four-digit code is indicated on the front side of the card.

MO/TO mail order/telephone order/internet order) – transactions without physical use of the card. Confirmed by entering the card number and other unique bank card data (owner's name, expiration date, CVC2 or CVV2 code).

Information about the card issuer (bank data)

The reverse side of the card also contains the address details of the card issuer and the phone number by which the card can be blocked.

Evolution of manufacturing and functionality of payment cards

Modern payment cards perform more and more functions and have a more complex design. Nowadays, most of them have an embedded chip containing a memory and a processor, which allows to store more data than a magnetic stripe, and guarantees a high level of security during the operations carried out by the user.

The development of modern information technologies makes it possible to implement innovative solutions, such as a card with a display that allows the user to check the account balance and generate one-time passwords.

Another interesting idea is a card that allows you to use several bank accounts (the choice can be made by pressing the button on the card). Biometric cards with an integrated fingerprint reader and cards that offer a dynamic (time-varying) verification code have also been successfully tested.

Time will tell if the novelties will be recognized by users. One thing is for sure - multifunctional payment cards can still surprise us with innovative solutions.

We will consider the main features of determining the authenticity of cards of a number of payment systems:
-Visa International;
-MasterCard Worldwide;
-American Express;
-Diners Club International.
The data that will be given may not be the most up-to-date, but they give general information about the issue. All bank cards have a standard size of 86? 54 mm. The bank card must not be damaged (cracks, chips, cuts, etc.). You cannot service cards that have not yet expired or have not yet expired.
Some signs of fake Visa and MasterCard cards:
- the name of the issuing bank and the logo of the payment system are printed in poor quality, the colors can be blurred and erased;
- the first four digits of the card number (“prefix”) printed under the embossed (embossed) number or above it are erased or missing;

The procedures for taking them are described below.
Merchants must accept Visa Electron Instant Issue cards for payment in the same way as any other Visa Electron product.
