It is not easy to deceive the multiplex: there are at least 15 modules in the car that communicate with each other via the CAN bus. And even though not everyone is responsible for countering hacking, a couple of “wise men” are enough to resist the villains. Therefore, it makes little sense to put an additional alarm. On the contrary, it is precisely because of it that failures in electronics often appear, which are very difficult to calculate. Other troubles can arise due to careless repairs - either the locksmiths connect the connector unreliably, or incorrectly “train” some foreign block.
Established blocks are buggy very rarely, but it happens. For example, automatic windows can "forget" the extreme positions. We do this: we remove the fuse from the circuit and return it to its place for about twenty minutes. We lower, and then raise the glass to the stop and hold the key for a few more seconds. And so with each window lifter. If it doesn’t help, then only a craftsman will guess that it is necessary to turn the gear with the Hall sensor 180 degrees, after which the mechanism will gain memory.
It happened that the central locking actuators began to crackle. This is a warranty case, so you must replace the mechanisms.

Another concern is that you will have to periodically flush the throttle assembly. But not on the recommendation of the dealer (it happens that he overestimates the requirements), but only as needed. For example, if the motor has become worse to start or is unstable in transient conditions. Please note that you can disconnect the connector from the node only when the ignition is off, after waiting twenty minutes after that - until the damper stops calibrating (stops buzzing). After the work, the Check Engine will light up, but don't let the signal scare you. If everything is assembled as expected, then after three (sometimes four) complete warm-up and cool-down cycles, the display will go out. And after 40 cycles, the error will be erased in the long-term memory of the controller. There is an opinion on Internet forums that the damper will be less likely to become dirty if the EGR valve is blanked off. Know that this is not a panacea even for "killed" motors.
In cars of the first years of production, threaded plugs of the cooling channels in the block head often leak. This is a disaster: it is not so easy to turn out cheap (28 rubles apiece) parts - they stick tightly! Many dealers change the head because of this - it is clear that it is not profitable for them to think. But there is a way, and much cheaper! Having removed the “head”, we carefully and firmly tap the plugs along the axis, after which, as a rule, we manage to shake them off. Otherwise, we drill flush with the thread and remove its remnants from the head. The third trick is good if “everything is running on the farm”: we drill a larger hole, cut a new thread and order new plugs from a familiar turner.
On a car with a 1.6-liter gasoline engine, watch the U-shaped tube of the air conditioner - cracks may appear on it at the termination point. In 2008, the plant changed the design of the kondeya, and the defect began to appear rarely. If, when the engine warms up in winter, you hear a whistle from under the hood, it means that the alternator belt is slipping. Have mercy on him - turn off the electric heating of windows and mirrors, which, when the “snowflake” on the instrument panel is on, turns on by itself. And so that the electronics do not get clever in the future, you can block the function of automatically turning on the heating. True, for this you need to have a scanner, otherwise you will have to go to the dealer.
On cars manufactured from 2008 to July 2009 with 1.8 and 2.0 liter gasoline engines, this technique does not help. Here they change the tension roller - they put in a well-proven old-style device (it has an automatic tensioner), but for some reason only on cars of Spanish and German assemblies - Russian ones did not get into this company. Yes, and they change it in a zhlobsky way: a roller with a tensioner and bolts at the expense of the institution, and the client pays for the belts! Welcome to the cashier 4000 rubles.
The firmware of the controller of the 1.8-liter gasoline engine, to put it mildly, is unsuccessful. The plant knows about this and constantly improves the program, but something does not work out. At first, the engine pulled poorly until it finally warmed up, then the speed began to float when coasting (in the version with the manual gearbox), and in the third version, the car refused to slow down with the engine. In addition, it twitched when driving in tension, and the hot engine began to start worse. In general, we are waiting for the fourth firmware ... and with it new surprises. The Americans are probably also waiting, because cars with a 1.8-liter engine are still not supplied to their market.
The 1.6 and 2.0 liter engines also have weaknesses in the programs, but they are less noticeable.

At the manual gearbox, at one time the defect manifested itself as follows: when the gas was released, the second or third gear was spontaneously turned off. Sometimes it was enough to adjust the control cables. If that didn't help, the dealers replaced the clutches, usually under warranty.
It happens that the machine breaks down, and, surprisingly, more often than the Mazda (the boxes of both cars are no different from each other). It seems that the Japanese assemble units for themselves better than for the side. Fortunately, the box is repairable, besides, the mechanics studied it thoroughly.
Bearings are made by SKF, and the owners of "tricks" have complaints about it. Still, the pillar supports will creak, then the hubs or the intermediate support of the right drive will buzz. It was one of the best selling golf cars in the period from 2005 to 2008. It was expected from the second generation of the Focus that it would be sold in the same quantities as the first generation, and today we can safely say that the developers did not fail and the car became very popular among motorists and fully met their expectations. Ford Focus 2 is available in three types bodies - sedan, three and five-door hatchback and station wagon. Mostly in the secondary market there are cars of Spanish, German and Russian assembly.
Ford Focus 2 began to be produced in 2005, and almost after the start of sales, the car became one of the leaders in sales due to an adequate price, high-quality assembly and a large selection of trim levels. In 2008, the manufacturer carried out a restyling, after which the car acquired a more charismatic and modern design. In the secondary market, the second generation of cars can be found in various trim levels, from the basic "Ambiente" to the top "Titanium". In total, buyers were offered five configurations to choose from.
Weaknesses Ford Focus 2 with mileage
Ford Focus 2 was provided with four petrol engines of 1.4 (80 hp), 1.6 (100 hp), 1.8 (125 hp) and 2.0 (145 hp), as well as diesel versions 1.6 (90 and 109 hp), 1.8 (115 hp) and 2.0 (136 hp). The 1.4 power unit is quite rare and only on cars in the basic configuration, most of the cars with such an engine have practically exhausted their resources today, since such cars were mainly bought in a taxi fleet. The 1.8 engine can bring a lot of negative emotions, the main problem lies in the throttle and the control unit, because of this, the engine can stall and does not start the first time, and at idle it constantly floats. This problem is treated by installing firmware from a two-liter engine. Also, when choosing a car with a 1.8 engine, you need to make sure that it is dry, as it often breaks through the valve cover gaskets and cylinder heads.
During the operation of a car with a gasoline engine, you need to be prepared for high fuel costs. So, for example, a 1.6-liter engine paired with mechanics in the city consumes 10-11 liters per hundred, and in a two-liter engine with an active driving mother, the consumption can be up to 15 liters per hundred kilometers. Diesel engines demonstrate unpretentiousness in operation, excellent traction and moderate fuel consumption (6 - 8 liters per 100 km), however, it must be remembered that a diesel engine is sensitive to the quality of diesel fuel.
Transmission
All engines except 1.4 could be equipped with an automatic transmission or a manual transmission, with a 1.4 engine only a manual transmission was installed. All motors paired with a mechanical transmission provide a good dynamic ride. Unfortunately, such words cannot be said about the automatic transmission, since it works quite slowly. Both transmissions have a considerable resource of work and are considered one of the main advantages of the second generation Ford Focus, even cars with a mileage of more than 150,000 km do not cause any particular complaints in this regard.
A manual transmission can come with a nasty surprise in the form of difficult reverse gear shifting, which is accompanied by a crunch, this problem is due to the lack of synchronizers, so after constant mishandling, the reverse gear begins to fly out.
