So that the purchased equipment does not gather dust in the closet, you need to learn how to handle it. Such a handy thing as a blender requires certain skills. How to use a blender to become a real helper?

Types of blenders

Today, manufacturers produce two categories of blenders:

  • stationary;
  • submersible.

The first are a jug mounted on a stand with a motor. Inside the jug are sharp knives that allow you to chop food. Depending on the power, the device can grind not only soft, but also harder foods (nuts, raw potatoes, apples, meat), as well as crush ice.

The second category is more mobile. It is a handle with a motor, to which various nozzles with knives or a whisk for whipping are attached. They are considered less powerful than stationary ones, but this is not always the case. There are models with high power that can cope with the same rigidity of products as stationary ones.

The photo shows an example of what both types of blenders can do. Therefore, the difference between stationary models and submersible ones will only be that the latter have to be kept on weight when the device is immersed in the dishes while the process of grinding products is in progress. This is not always convenient, especially if the blender is without a bowl.

How to use a blender

Stationary Models

To understand how to use a blender correctly, you need to refer to its appearance. All rubbing actions take place inside the jug with knives. Foods that need to be chopped or mixed are loaded inside, the jug is closed with a lid and the speed control knob is turned.

Depending on the power, the blender will grind faster or slower what is put into it. Therefore, if you plan not only to mix cocktails and grind mashed potatoes once a week, but also count on daily use, give preference to more powerful models.

If the process is slow and food slips between the knives without being crushed, add a little water. This will facilitate the process and the blender will be able to quickly chop the food.

Do not lay the bowl completely, otherwise the device simply will not be able to cope with the task. Ideally, if the jug is filled to a third, a maximum of half. It is better to make several visits than to make the engine unusable.

Do not pour boiling water into the jug. Glass bowls, of course, will withstand the temperature, but in general, such experiments are negative for the device. As for plastic jugs, they can darken and deform.

Stationary models do not do well with slicing greens and do not perceive the grinding of dry products, for example, making breadcrumbs from breadcrumbs.

Submersible Models

Models in this category may have a set with various nozzles and a bowl with a lid, or only the main nozzle and bowl (depending on the model). In this case, the difference from the stationary ones will be that you either put the products in the dishes in which you will grind them or use the bowl with a sealed lid that comes with the kit for this. This bowl has more powerful blades and is great for cutting harder or harder-to-grind foods (tough vegetables or fruits, nuts, ice, meat).

Insert the knife into the bowl before using the immersion blender. Then put what you will grind inside and close the lid. Make sure the knife screw aligns with the notch in the lid. After that, the handle with the motor is inserted into the bowl lid into a special hole and by pressing the buttons during the grinding process, you can adjust the speed and the required degree of grinding.

It doesn’t matter if you use a stationary blender or an immersion blender - before you start grinding, cut the food into small pieces. So you will help the device to cope with its task more easily and save the motor from burnout.

If the grinding requires products that are not too hard, you can use a long nozzle with knives, which is attached to the handle with a motor. Here, some advantage of submersible models is clearly manifested and you will understand how to use a manual device - it can grind soup puree to the required consistency right in the pan, without pouring hot food anywhere. That's just to do this carefully so that there is not a lot of splashes.

In addition, for a submersible blender, any dishes in which you can put food for grinding are suitable, but it is advisable to choose it with high walls. It is necessary to cut the products, put them in a bowl, immerse the blender in it and press the start button. Most often, submersible models also have several speeds, which can be changed using the buttons on the handle with a motor.

If the appliance has been running for a long time, give it time to rest. Also, don't let it idle. This will protect the motor from overheating and extend the life of the blender.

After use, be sure to rinse the bowl of a stationary blender and the nozzle of an immersion blender. This will help prevent pieces of food from drying on the knives and getting stuck in the parts of stationary models, as well as getting them into food during subsequent use of the device. The part with the motor is not washable, but only wiped with a damp cloth.

What Blenders Can Do

Of course, mix and grind. But what exactly can be put in them in order for the device to show its abilities to the maximum? Consider the basic skills:

  • grind boiled and raw vegetables and fruits to a puree state;
  • turn meat into minced meat;
  • break ice;
  • mix liquids into cocktails;
  • mix the ingredients for batter or beat the egg mixture for an omelet, scrambled eggs;
  • help young mothers prepare baby food;
  • to turn the ingredients of puree soups into cream;
  • prepare liquid and thick fillings for pies and pastries;
  • crush fresh and frozen berries, nuts and chocolate, ice, etc.

The list is quite extensive and where it would take a long time to do the same by hand or with the help of a home processor, the blender will easily do everything very quickly.

How to use an immersion blender bowl (video)

The video clearly demonstrates the grinding of various products and the whipping of liquids using the model from Orion as an example. If your blender did not come with a whisk, you can use a long attachment with small knives.

By understanding how to properly use an immersion blender and its stationary counterpart, you can make your cooking process easier and faster.

In contact with

In order to cook delicious and beautiful food at home, modern technologies have provided all the necessary conditions. Even 10-15 years ago, making a cocktail at home was out of the question. Today, it's standard "good morning" routine. And all thanks to such a wonderful device as a blender. Let's figure out how to use a blender and enjoy the process of cooking, no matter the circumstances.

How to use a stand blender

Congratulations! You bought a blender. Now open the box and examine the contents carefully. See what your unit looks like. What type of crushing and whipping device do you prefer?

Stationary blender. This device can be safely called self-sufficient. There are practically no flaws in it. Well, except for the limited size of the bowl. You simply put it on the table, connect the plug to the mains, load the food (pre-diced), press the button and watch the process.

The use of this type of unit brings nothing but pleasure. But there are some things that are strictly forbidden to do, namely:

  1. Underload or overload the blender. Do not throw a couple of pieces of meat to the bottom and do not fill the unit under the very lid.
  2. Load hot products into a plastic container for whipping / crushing, as the bowl will quickly become unusable.
  3. Leave the bowl lid open while the unit is running. Yes, and that happens. And the consequences of this mistake remain on the walls, floor and even the ceiling. And you still have to remove them.

Be sure to read the instructions before using the unit. Spending 10 minutes of time will save you from unpleasant surprises.

How to use an immersion (hand) blender

This device is designed for those who like to keep everything under control. The pleasant feeling of heaviness while cooking and the knowledge that no detail escapes your eyes is a real pleasure.

Well, if we talk about more mundane things, a hand blender is a practical thing. You can work with it in any container and with any products, well, almost. Grinding nuts, coffee, ice with a submersible unit is not recommended. But if necessary, add some water to the bottom of the bowl.

How to use the manual unit? Rather, write down a few secrets.

  1. Usually the submersible is equipped with a food processing bowl, but if you decide to use a different container, take the deepest one. Then you are not afraid of splashes (and without them, nowhere), and cleaning will take less time.
  2. The products to be processed should cover the bottom of the blender foot. This is the minimum that can be whipped/cut.
  3. Do not use the device to process hot food (just removed from the stove). Let them cool down (to at least 70 degrees) and only then continue cooking.
  4. Before whipping the fruit puree, remove the stones from the ingredients.
  5. If you are in doubt about which product to apply which speed, start with the minimum and gradually increase it.
  6. Using a blender to make mashed potatoes is not recommended. It will turn out tasteless.
  • Any self-respecting manufacturer will definitely complete the device with a whisk. Of course, the unit, alas, will not be able to beat the proteins for mousse (a lush, dense, homogeneous mass), but it will prepare a batter or a cocktail.

How to use blender attachments

Immersion blenders often come with extra attachments. And it is not always clear what they are for and where they can be used. We will explain.

So, the main nozzle for grinding vegetables, fruits and meat is placed on the leg. Without her, nowhere, because the lion's share of the work lies with her. Also, the kit may include a chopper - a small container (100-150 ml) with blades. It is designed for processing nuts, seeds and other hard foods.

Often, manufacturers supply hand blenders with a whisk for whipping. Of course, you won’t get the same effect as from a mixer, but you will surely beat the batter for pancakes. Models in the high price range are often equipped with various cutting attachments, which turns the manual unit into a food processor.

With a stationary blender, it's a different story. It will not beat eggs and the maximum that you can get in the package is an ice crusher. If it is not there, then it is strictly forbidden to process ice or frozen juice in the unit.

In fact, the answer to the question "how to use a blender correctly?" it's easier to find than you think. Everything that interests you is written in the instructions, which are an integral part of the complete set of any blender. In it, the manufacturer indicated all the features of using the unit, which will help you cook deliciously and keep the device in working order for many years.

Almost a food processor

The site laboratory has repeatedly tested multifunctional immersion blenders. However, we do not recall a device of this type, which would be equipped with such a wide range of additional functions. With the help of Bosch MSM881x1, in addition to chopping and whipping, you can chop, chop and grate vegetables, cut them into cubes and even make thick dense dough. The task of today's review is to check how well the blender copes with its main and listed functions, whether it is convenient to use, and whether maintenance is difficult. The key question is: can Bosch MSM881x1 be called a universal food processor.

Equipment

The device arrived at the laboratory in a parallelepiped box in the traditional Bosch design: large photographs of the device and its individual accessories are placed on a white background. Above and on the wide sides provide information about the power and functions of the device. On one of the sides you can see pictures of dishes and nozzles used for their preparation. On the second side side, acquaintance with the device continues: here is the name of the model, brief technical and operational characteristics. All information looks very clear. A careful study of the packaging convinces that the user will have a multifunctional and interesting device in the kitchen. The packaging is not equipped with a carrying handle.

Opening the box, inside we found another white box of a smaller size. In total, we removed the following components of the Bosch MaxoMixx blender from both packages (as the line of these multifunctional blenders is generally called):

  • main block;
  • blender leg;
  • blender glass;
  • whisk for whipping and reducer for it;
  • universal chopper size L with a knife;
  • universal chopper size XL with installed nozzle for cutting food into cubes;
  • two plastic lids (for a glass and a chopper);
  • knife for universal chopper size XL;
  • nozzle for kneading dough;
  • disk for attaching inserts;
  • three cutting inserts in the disc;
  • pusher;
  • tool for cleaning the cutting grate;
  • two instruction manuals.

In general, a lot of things. The accessories are so numerous that we involuntarily let out a heavy sigh. The user will still have to look into the instructions to figure out what is inserted where and how. It seems that an extremely multifunctional device fell into our hands.

The blender components and accessories are packed in plastic bags and placed securely in the boxes with cardboard inserts.

At first sight

The main unit, also known as a handle with an electric motor, is made of stainless steel and plastic. The grip area is made of rubberized plastic, which does not slip even in a wet palm. The control buttons are large and easy to press thanks to the ergonomic shape of the upper part of the motor housing. At the narrowest point of the grip, the diameter of the handle is about 4 cm, we think that even users with small and narrow hands will be able to use the blender without effort and inconvenience. On top is a rotary switch. On the sides in the lower part you can see the buttons-locks of the nozzles.

The main nozzle - the blender leg is made of stainless steel. The metal with a matte sheen is well crafted and smooth to the touch. The grinding hemisphere inside has a depth of about three centimeters and is equipped with a plastic deflector that changes the direction of the flow inside the head of the nozzle. Thus, the blending process should be more efficient. The knife has a four-blade design. Two petals, located in opposite directions from the center, have a blade length of about two centimeters, and two short ones, about 7 millimeters long, are directed downwards. Thanks to this immersion head layout, the blender should work without splashing. The manufacturer calls this technology AntiSplash. Taking into account all the described design features, the submersible part of the blender leg gives the impression of either a well-thought-out detail, or a desire to outperform competitors in innovation and originality.

The whisk has a standard shape. It is also made of stainless steel. The main nozzles are mounted on the handle of the electric motor without gaps and slots. When assembled, the device looks very neat, a single device.

The blender jug, as well as the two grinding jars (L and XL), are made of plastic. The kit includes two lids: one for a glass and one for an L bowl. There is a graduation on the walls of the glass that marks the volume of liquid in different units of measurement: ml, cups, floz and pts. The bottom of the glass is smooth.

For simplicity, let's call the grinding containers large and small. The diameter of the small bowl is 12 cm. The wall thickness of this grinding container is larger than the glass, and is about 3 mm. The bottom is equipped with feet with plastic suction cups, which prevent the container from sliding on the surface and ensure a stable position of the device. On the inside of the walls, exactly opposite the legs, there are technological recesses. Apparently, they serve for better mixing and reorientation of the flows of the ground product inside the bowl. A two-bladed knife is inserted into the pin in the center. The blades of the knife are horizontally oriented and located at different heights. The large capacity knife has an identical design. On top of the container with the help of three bayonet locks, a lid-nozzle for grinding is fixed.

The diameter of the large bowl is 18 cm, the wall thickness is about 2 mm. On the outside of the container, marks are made of the volume of the product placed inside. A massive plastic handle is highlighted on the side, which fits comfortably in the palm of your hand. There is a removable rubber base at the bottom around the perimeter of the bottom, which will not only ensure traction with the surface, but also must dampen vibrations that occur during the operation of the chopper, dough mixer or cutting / chopping nozzle.

In the center of the bottom on the inside there is a pin on which a chopping knife, a dough kneading nozzle or a disk for attaching inserts are put on.

From above, in the same way as on a small bowl, a lid-nozzle is put on. At the top of the cover there is a place where a handle with an electric motor is inserted, on the contrary - a hole for the pusher. The internal size of the feed opening is approximately 4.5×6.5 cm. The lid with the gearbox is quite heavy (656 g).

For cutting, the device is assembled in a special, rather simple way. In the center of the bowl, it is necessary to insert a disk for attaching inserts, in which the desired disk is previously placed.

The kit includes two discs for shredding and one for rubbing products.

The dicing nozzle has a more complex configuration. A special design is attached to the lid for the large bowl, consisting of a black plastic circle with a steel insert installed and a rounded piece with a knife that will cut the cubes as they are served. The knife insert is fixed with simple clips.

The first acquaintance with the Bosch MSM881x1 submersible blender made a great impression on us. The phrase was born in my head: “Well, a very wise device!” If we return to the formal style of evaluating the device, we can note the high-quality performance of all parts and components. The blender handle is comfortable to hold, the attachments for basic functions are easy to assemble and attach to each other, the plastic gives the impression of being strong and reliable.

Doubts torment us only about the use of a nozzle for dicing - the design looks painfully intricate. Yes, and it is attached to the lid of the chopper, not without graceful passes with your hands.

Instruction

The instruction manual also looked standard for Bosch. And in this case, we do not admire, but are perplexed. The device is not the cheapest, the assembly and operation of this blender may raise questions, and the instructions are not only hard to read, but also made on thin gray paper. If you twist the brochure back and forth several times, and you have to do this, then it will either fall apart or tear. The user, of course, can download the manual from the site, but when purchasing a kitchen appliance from a well-known manufacturer, I would like to see a little more care for the buyer.

In general, two instructions were found in the box with the device. Both are thick brochures printed, as we noted above, on thin gray paper. The instructions contain information in 18 languages, which explains their considerable volume. As we understood, one of the brochures is suitable for the entire Bosch MaxoMixx line, the second gives an in-depth overview of additional functions. The structure of both manuals is the same. The first page is a folding one and contains a list of components, assembly / disassembly diagrams of the device for performing various operations and a table with the maximum volumes of raw materials of various types. The text of the manual itself contains standard information on safety measures when using the blender, a comprehensive overview of the device, recommendations for cleaning and care, as well as several recipes for dishes: salads, sauce, soup, a couple of dough recipes (yeast for bread and shortcrust), etc.

In general, it is inconvenient to use the instructions. In addition to low-quality performance, the style of providing information is not visible. So, for example, you need to constantly turn the brochure from the 130th page, which describes the chopper circuit, to the first folding one. The picture-scheme needed for this can be on the other side of the long folding first page. In general, at the first acquaintance, the user will have to suffer: first with the choice of a brochure with which to start, and then with the processing and assimilation of information.

Control

The Bosch MSM881x1 multifunction blender is easy to operate. The control panel is represented by two buttons on the body of the electric motor: on/off button. and turbo button, as well as a speed switch from 1 to 12 using the rotary knob on the top of the handle. The control principles of the device are intuitive, no special training, of course, is required.

Assembling the attachments for the blending and whipping functions is simple - anyone who has ever used an immersion blender will cope with these tasks without difficulty. The assembly of the small grinding tank is also obvious. We will describe the operation of the large bowl below.

Exploitation

Preparation for use

The requirements for the first use are standard: wash all parts in contact with food with warm soapy water, wipe the motor block and covers with gearboxes with a damp cloth.

Usage

And now we will touch on the multifunctionality already mentioned more than once in more detail and systematize all the information gleaned from the manual (it’s not for nothing that we suffered so much while studying it) information. Performance of different tasks is provided by the nozzles included in the kit:

blender attachment designed for grinding, uniform mixing, emulsifying and whipping. With its help, you can prepare cocktails, puree soups, baby food, sauces, batter, chop boiled vegetables and fruits.

whisk attachment serves for whipping cream, proteins and milk into foam from hot and cold, as well as preparing sauces and desserts of light consistency.

Universal chopper suitable for grinding hard cheese, meat, fish, onions, herbs, garlic, nuts, vegetables and fruits.

Multifunctional accessories are needed for mixing, cutting, chopping, and rubbing products.

kneading attachment suitable for kneading small amounts of dough.

Dicing attachment allows you to cut vegetables and fruits for salads, soups and desserts. This nozzle is suitable for processing: potatoes (raw and boiled), vegetables (carrots, beets, cucumbers, onions, etc.), fruits (bananas, apples, pears, strawberries, kiwi, etc.), eggs, cheese, boiled sausage, boiled or fried meat.

The appliance can be used to cook both cold and hot (up to 80 °C) dishes. Do not crush frozen ingredients or ice. For the processing of these products, a separate knife is produced that is not included in the kit in question.

The experience of operating both the main and additional functions of the blender left a generally favorable impression. Management is elementary, as a submersible blender it performs perfectly, the handle is conveniently located in the hand, the weight is standard, the glasses do not slip and do not crawl on the table. No vibration, no splashing, no foreign odors were noticed.

Quite curiously, the duration of continuous operation of the blender is regulated. Time is not limited to a specific interval. For different types of raw materials and different types of processing, the maximum allowable mass or volume of the product and the recommended processing time are indicated. In the text of the manual, it is difficult to find information that when dicing, you can process a maximum of about 3.5 kg of raw and cooked ingredients, but cheese can be grated no more than 300 g. True, we did not find a time limit for the whisk . However, the blender is equipped with overheating protection, so it will turn itself off when it decides that it has had enough. Which, in fact, happened in one of our practical tests.

After processing the recommended maximum amount of raw materials for one load of the device, it is necessary to allow the main unit to cool to room temperature for 30 minutes. Let's take some data as an example. So, in a large chopper, you can grind 500 g of meat at a time for 30 seconds, 350 g of onions in 5-10 pulses of 2 seconds, rub 300 g of carrots or cut 500 g of potatoes into slices. In general, quite impressive numbers. We do not think that the user will refer to the manual every time to check the recommended data. Firstly, after a couple of weeks of operation, experience will be gained, and secondly, common sense suggests that the blender should be allowed to rest when its body is warm.

Care

All plastic parts (glass, bowls, plastic lids, pusher), all knives, chopping attachments, shredders, kneading attachment, whisk and immersion blender leg are dishwasher safe. The handle of the electric motor and both covers with gearboxes cannot be washed either in a dishwasher or by hand, of course. These parts should only be wiped with a damp and then dry cloth. It is recommended to be especially careful with knives and attachments with blades - they are quite sharp and you can cut yourself imperceptibly on them. After washing the immersion leg in the PMM, it should be placed in a vertical position with the knives up so that the water that has penetrated inside can flow out. It is convenient to clean the dicing head with the included tool.

The ban on washing chopper lids greatly complicates the care of the Bosch MSM881x1 blender. The fact is that during the processing of products, their pieces fall on these parts. We had a particularly hard time slicing chicken meat into cubes. Chicken fibers were everywhere: it was difficult to remove them from the feed opening and the slots between all kinds of latches and locks. This is how, for example, the lid and the nozzle for cutting food into cubes look like after slicing the same chicken:

How to manage in the case of cleaning greasy or sticky (from boiled potatoes) surfaces without water and soap is not completely clear to us. On the other hand, it is unlikely that the user will use the device for cutting 100 grams of chicken. In the manufacture of the Olivier basin, the resulting savings in time and effort are so great that you can find a few minutes to thoroughly clean the chopper lid. Cutting fresh vegetables with a conventional shredder is not so problematic and it is easier to put the device in order. Our cleaning experiments ended up wiping said parts with a wrung out soapy cloth and then with a damp clean one, after which we walked over the gear covers with a dry cloth. In general, we can conclude that it is irrational to use a multifunctional chopper for a small amount of products (one carrot or half a kilogram of Olivier salad) - washing and wiping parts and accessories will take too long. If you need to chop a couple of kilograms of carrots for a Korean salad or cook a bucket of vinaigrette, then Bosch MSM881x1 is to help.

Testing

Objective Tests

Energy consumption measurements were made while the blender was running using a wattmeter. The maximum value that we managed to achieve during practical tests was 380 W when dicing chicken fillets. However, shortly after that, the device began to emit a specific smell and the overheating protection worked, which turned off the device. During all tests, depending on the nozzle used and the operation, the readings of the wattmeter fluctuated in the following ranges:

  • whisk attachment: 33-60 W;
  • blender attachment: 40-160 W;
  • chopping vegetables and lean meats in a small chopper: 50-95 W;
  • shredding and rubbing fresh vegetables: 70-95 W;
  • dicing: 70-110 W;
  • making pâté in a large grinder: 165-200 W;
  • kneader: 40-90 W.

The noise level during operation of the device is subjectively low. With the blender running at maximum speed, you can conduct a dialogue by slightly raising your voice. If the processing of products occurs at low speeds, then there is no need to strain your voice when talking.

As for the duration of continuous operation, we focused on the degree of heating of the electric motor housing. The maximum operating time of the whisk nozzle was 5 minutes - the case did not heat up during this interval; we chopped fresh vegetables for about 10 minutes - the device also worked without comment.

Chopped fresh tomatoes

For this mandatory test, we took 500 grams of fresh tomatoes, washed them and cut them into small pieces. Grind with a gradual increase in speed for 2 minutes.

Tomatoes turned into a whipped mass, interspersed with skin and seeds - a standard result for immersion blenders. No splashing of the product really occurs.

Result: good .

Milkshakes

We didn’t even try to make a classic milkshake - using a regular blender attachment, you still can’t get an airy light consistency. Therefore, we whipped up milkshakes with the addition of berries and fruits. We made two: with blueberries and bananas. The proportions of the products are as follows: berry / banana - 50 g, ice cream - 50 g, milk 120 ml. Beat, starting with the minimum speed and gradually increasing to the maximum, for about one and a half to two minutes.

Banana traditionally gave a thicker and airy texture, slightly creamy in taste. However, the whipped part settles rather quickly, i.e., in our opinion, it is impossible to call the foam stable.

The consistency of the blueberry smoothie is more liquid. All the resulting bubbles quickly (about two minutes) burst, and the drink becomes just a thick homogeneous liquid.

Result: good .

We stopped expecting a well whipped milkshake from a blender a long time ago, so we mainly evaluated the uniformity of mixing and chopping blueberries / bananas.

milk foam

To test the quality of the whisk attachment, we decided to move away from traditional proteins and froth hot milk. Partly because the instructions explicitly state that the whisk is suitable for this purpose, partly because of the lively discussion of the problem of frothing milk in a recent article.

150 ml of milk with a fat content of 3.5% -4.5% was heated to the recommended 70 ° C in the manual. As for the quality of milk, we used ordinary drinking whole pasteurized milk with a shelf life of 14 days. Beat at maximum speed for three minutes. No splashing was observed. As a result, we got a lush foamy mass, which increased in volume by more than 3 times.

Result: excellent .

The foam is thick and persistent. So, for example, we jumped with the camera around cups of hot drinks and milk to celebrate the result for about 10 minutes - during this time the foam retained its splendor, only slightly decreasing in volume.

Pyanse

People living in the western regions of our vast do not always understand what kind of dish they are talking about. But the Far East can go straight to the next paragraph. So, this is a steamed yeast dough pie stuffed with meat, onion and cabbage with spices. For cooking, we use a large aluminum pressure cooker. For cooking, we need yeast dough and meat filling with additives.

We knead the yeast dough in a large bowl according to the recipe given in the instruction manual. The recipe is classic, so we will not repeat it. Note that the instruction, most likely, a mistake or a typo crept in: 0.5 g of yeast per 250 g of flour seemed not enough to us. Therefore, we added about 4 g of dry yeast to the indicated amount of flour. All ingredients were placed in a large bowl. Mixed for about two minutes at minimum speed, increasing it closer to the end of the process, up to the 6th.

The weight of the resulting lump of dough was a little more than 400 g. In general, the process went well: the dough did not stick to the walls, it was evenly kneaded. After cooking, put the dough in the oven for proofing, heated to 30 ° C.

Then we took a small container for grinding. We prepared about 250 g of chicken breast fillet: peeled, cut off the bones, cut into small pieces. Grind in two runs for 10-15 seconds. As a result, we got a good minced meat with separate small pieces and meat fibers. We were pleased that the fillet did not turn into a paste, which is often the case with minced meat made using a grinder.

Transferring the minced meat to a bowl, proceeded to chop the onion. Processed, as recommended in the instructions, in second pulses at turbo speed. It took us 4 impulses to cut 100 g of onion. We were very pleased with the result of this test: finely chopped onion, from which the juice did not stand out and which did not turn into onion gruel.

We received the same finely and high-quality chopped vegetable during the processing of cabbage. Then all the ingredients were thoroughly mixed, we put the resulting filling in the refrigerator for maturation.

In general, parsley is not really needed in this dish, but we had it, and we wanted to check how the blender would cope with cutting grass. The device did an excellent job of chopping both leaves and stems evenly.

When the dough came up, we formed 7 large round-shaped pies, greased the levels of the pressure cooker with vegetable oil and laid the pianse. Steamed them for 35 minutes.

Result: excellent .

So, in this experiment, we tested a small chopper and a kneading nozzle. The device coped with all the assigned tasks, showing excellent results.

Banana bread

After working with a thick dough, we were curious how the dough mixer would behave with a viscous structure.

Ingredients:

  • butter - 115 g;
  • flour - 175 g;
  • sugar - 200 g;
  • cocoa - 50 g;
  • sour cream - 130 g;
  • banana - 200 g;
  • egg - 2 pcs.;
  • soda - 1 tsp.

Sifted flour, cocoa powder, sugar were poured into a large container, sour cream, eggs, melted butter and a banana, broken into small pieces by hand, were added. We started kneading. It became clear that the banana is not crushed even at a high mixing speed. We had to stop the machine and mash the banana pieces with a fork. Then knead the dough with a blender. The next time we made a plain banana bread (without cocoa), we did the following: mashed the banana with a chopper, then, changing the knives to a kneading attachment, added all the other ingredients and kneaded a thick, sticky dough. We think that you can prepare this kind of dough with the help of a blender attachment.

Baked at 170°C for a little over an hour. Readiness was checked with a wooden stick.

Result: good .

The device kneads the dough of medium density well. However, the remains of dry products remain on the walls, scattered by centrifugal force above the dough level. For this reason, at least once during the kneading process, it is necessary to stop the appliance and shake the flour from the sides of the bowl inwards. Well, a few words about saving time: the dough specifically for banana bread mixes so easily that if you take into account the time of care for the appliance, it will be faster to prepare the dough by hand. Flour and drops of dough, of course, can fall on the inside of the lid, which must not be crushed under running water. The pluses include the ability to add ingredients during the mixing process through the inlet.

Liver pate

Regular readers have noticed that every time we test blenders, we make either hummus or liver pate. The fact is that these dishes clearly demonstrate the quality of the work of the knives of the device and their ability to obtain a homogenized pasty mass. This time we will prepare a pate. The recipe has already been given so many times that we do not want to repeat ourselves.

Prepared vegetables and liver were chopped in a large bowl for about 2-3 minutes.

No miracles happened: the consistency of the resulting liver mass is standard, everything is perfectly mixed and ground, but the structure is not pasty.

Result: good .

Shredding carrots and cabbage

To check the quality of the grater, we took carrots. It will be small - we will prepare a simple salad with garlic and mayonnaise, grate coarsely - we will make carrots in Korean.

The nozzle is assembled simply, no difficulties and repeated study of the instructions, as when assembling a device for dicing, are not required. Rubs quickly. So, five large carrots were grated in less than two minutes. On the disk in which the nozzles are attached, there are a few thin pieces of unprocessed carrots left. The size of the resulting rubbed fragments can be seen in the photograph.

Carrots were mashed with sugar and salt, put under the load. After some time, they cleaned the garlic, squeezed it out in a slide on the prepared carrots. Then the oil was heated up. When the oil began to boil, ground spices were added to it: coriander, red hot pepper, paprika, a mixture of peppers. Boiling oil was poured over a hill of garlic. Mixed well, tasted. We realized that we needed to balance the taste, so we added a little ordinary vinegar.

The kit includes two attachments for shredding: one for thick slices, the second, respectively, for thin slices. For cutting cabbage, we took a second nozzle. The main problem when shredding cabbage is the size of the feed opening, the need to chop the cabbage rather finely and place the pieces under the knives across the sheets.

In principle, we coped with all these tasks. As a result, we got shredded cabbage, in which there were pieces of uncut vegetable. Waste on the disk, in our opinion, was enough:

Result: good .

Olivier and vinaigrette

Finally, we left the most curious function of the device - dicing. More recently, New Year's holidays with beloved or hated Olivier have died down. We will find out if this device is a salvation for all lovers of traditions, and the housewives will enter next year without moaning about being tired from making salads.

In order not to cause culinary battles in the forum about the composition of Olivier, we will demonstrate precisely the technical side of the process and describe the nuances of using the dicing nozzle.

The process is very fast, therefore, all ingredients should be prepared in advance: cool, peel, cut, if necessary. Carrots, cucumbers, medium-sized potatoes and eggs are placed in the feed opening without any problems. Large potatoes, sausage or beets need to be cut. Carrots, beets, cucumbers and eggs are perfectly processed. Stickier potatoes can pile up on top of the nozzle, dropping into the bowl only under their own weight. With chicken, we generally had an incident that turned off the device due to overheating. It looks like the fillet pieces were piling up and getting stuck in the bait design details. There was a feeling that the nozzle was not so much cutting as squeezing and pushing the meat. In the end, a large amount of crushed meat and excessive tension on the knife caused the motor to overheat.

In our opinion, the resulting cubes are large. We think that from our photographs you can get an impression of the result of cutting and decide whether you are satisfied with such a result or not.

We have already written about the difficulties in cleaning the device. The loading opening, the lower part of the lid cannot but get dirty when cutting products. And you can't wash them! So jumping around water, rags and detergents begins.

Result: satisfactory .

Perhaps we were partially disappointed, because we expected a lot from this feature. However, the cubes are not always uniform, it is difficult to wash the device. We can definitely say that even the biggest fans of kitchen process automation are unlikely to get and assemble a blender to cut a small amount of food. After all, this can be done with a wire grill vegetable cutter. Another thing is if you need to feed a dozen or two guests or you often cut food into cubes in large volumes. One cannot be taken away from the device: in 5-10 minutes you can really make a bowl of salad. If you add 10 minutes for cleaning, then, in general, a good result.

conclusions

In general, the Bosch MSM881x1 impressed me as an elegantly crafted and sophisticated device. High-quality performance of all parts and accessories, quiet operation, the ability to store the results of blending or grinding directly in the blender bowls - all this makes the operation of the device pleasant and convenient. Ergonomic handle, ease of operation will allow anyone to use the device. All experiments were successful.

The versatility of the device also adds advantages when thinking about buying. Various additional nozzles help to prepare a wide variety of dishes: from ground tomatoes to baked goods. Perhaps Bosch MSM881x1 can be called a mini food processor. The dicing function may be required when preparing large quantities of salads. The pluses include the ability to wash almost all removable accessories in the dishwasher. You should also plan where to store the device, since a significant number of accessories require some space.

This blender is one of the kits in the MaxoMixx range of immersion blenders. So if necessary, the user has the opportunity to purchase additional attachments and accessories. So, for example, you can buy a purée attachment and an ice and frozen food cutter.

By cons, we would include the difficulty in cleaning individual parts.

A blender is a must have in every kitchen. Now the preparation of cocktails, diet smoothies and simply beautiful food has become commonplace for your loved ones in the household.

Thanks to this device, you can delight your loved ones with tasty and healthy food every day. It remains to figure out how to use this technique correctly, to get as many useful benefits as possible.

What is a blender

A blender is an electrical appliance that allows you to mix like a mixer and grind like a food processor.

There are two types of blenders - stationary and submersible. They are used mainly for chopping food, whipping cocktails, mousses, mashed potatoes. Some models can even break ice. In some configurations, there are additional nozzles, which allows you to perform a large number of functions.

How to use an immersion blender

This unit allows you to keep the entire cooking procedure under control. A big plus is the portability of its use.

Allows you to use any container and different types of products for work. They should not grind nuts, coffee and ice. If such a need nevertheless arose - pour a little water on the bottom of the bowl.

Very often, a special deep bowl is included in the kit, but you can take another container. The main thing to remember is that the bowl must be deep, otherwise it is likely that you will stain the entire kitchen with flying splashes.

There are a few rules for this type of blender:

  • grind solid foods only in small portions;
  • products loaded into the blender must cover the bottom of the leg with a cutting end;
  • fruits are ground without stones;
  • when working with large portions of products, take short breaks in work;
  • after use, wash the nozzle well in water to prevent food pieces from drying out;
  • Do not cook mashed potatoes in a blender. Yes, it will look very appetizing, but in reality the taste will not be so pleasant.

Immersion Blender Attachments

Most often, there are two nozzles of a standard type in the kit - a grinder, a main nozzle, and least of all - a whisk. It is used for liquid products and for whipping creams and eggs, the effect of it is not the same as that of a mixer, but it is quite possible to beat batter.

chopper- is a container with blades, they use grinding seeds, nuts and other solid foods. The main nozzle is located on the leg, with its help you can grind fruits, vegetables and meat. More expensive models may have cutting attachments.

How to use a stand blender

Stationary blender - a container made of plastic or glass, standing on a stand. There is a chopper inside the blender bowl.

It requires a specially designated place in the kitchen and it is already necessary to place the exact amount of food in it, which is indicated on the bowl. It has a tight-fitting lid, making it easy and pleasant to work with.

Before use, all the necessary ingredients must be cut into small cubes. Then pour into the bowl, close the lid and press the button.

A few rules for using a stationary blender:

  • There must be free space under the cover, at least 2 cm. This is necessary to avoid overheating of the motor.
  • Do not put hot food into the bowl.
  • All ingredients should be finely chopped.
  • Do not start the unit at idle, this can lead to a failure in the mechanism.

Safety

When using the device, both manual and stationary, the main thing is not to forget about safety. Improper use can cause serious injury to the limbs.

  • The blender and its accessories must be stored in a place protected from children.
  • Do not leave the appliance plugged in unattended.
  • Inspect the power cords regularly to check their condition.
  • In the event of a breakdown, do not disassemble the blender yourself. Its repair should be entrusted to specialists.
  • Keep the appliance away from stoves and other heating appliances.
  • Never allow moisture to come into contact with the motor housing.
  • Until the device stops completely, do not remove the lid from the container.
  • Be careful and attentive when washing knives. You don't need to wash them, let them dry themselves.

What Not to Do

The immersion blender should only be used for short periods of time. If you need to grind a large amount of food, you should take short breaks during work. It is impossible to grind products with a solid structure and those from which no liquid is released.

It is not allowed to idle the product, as this may lead to breakage. A stationary blender also cannot grind hot foods. Equipment with low power may not be able to cope with crushing ice and fresh herbs.

Products must be cleaned and cut into small pieces, this is the main rule for any kind of blender. Technique simply can not cope with large pieces.

After finishing work, it must be washed immediately. Leftover food can cause equipment to malfunction. The nozzles can be washed in the sink or in the washing machine. They should be removed only after complete drying. You do not need to wash the “leg” of the immersion blender, just wipe it with a napkin or towel.

By following all the rules of use, you will get an excellent kitchen helper that will save you a lot of time. It will be especially useful for young mothers who want to pamper their baby with freshly prepared food.

Although this device has appeared in our kitchens for a long time, not all housewives thoroughly know how to use a blender in order to get the most out of it. There are also some nuances in the care of the device and in its storage.

Two types of instrument

To begin with, note that there are two main types of blender:

  • submersible (chopper attached to a handle with a motor);
  • stationary (with a bowl).

If you purchased an immersion blender, you can grind food with it in almost any container. It is very compact, multifunctional and allows you to grind boiled vegetables into puree, beat berries, chop meat and much more in a matter of seconds. This blender is convenient to use, and it is simply indispensable if you often prepare smoothies, puree soups, mayonnaise and pies.

The stationary look requires dedicated space in the kitchen and cannot hold more or less food than shown on the bowl markings. But a stationary blender does not need to be held in your hand, and it always closes tightly with a lid, so working with it is very simple. They like to cook cocktails and sauces in it.

Let's take a closer look at how to use the blender of one and the second kind. They have a lot in common, but there are also some differences. It will also be useful to learn how to properly wash the blender and what to do to increase its service life.

Immersion or hand blender

Manufacturers of most models advise using a blender to grind foods that are not too hard. This means that crackers, coffee beans and frozen meat cannot be ground in a blender. However, there is one secret. If the recipe calls for very small pieces of something solid, such as celery roots or horseradish, then you need to add a little liquid to the blender bowl.

Usually, a special bowl or glass is sold with a submersible blender, into which products can be loaded. If you decide to use a different container, then you must remember that in the process of whipping and fine cutting, splashes will fly. This means that the pot or bowl should be deep enough so that you do not stain everything around in the kitchen.

  • The minimum level of food loaded into the blender must be such that it covers the bottom of the leg that cuts directly.
  • Do not use the device for grinding too hot, freshly cooked products. It is necessary to wait until they cool down, at least to 70-80°C.
  • Before whipping the fruit, you need to check if there are any seeds in them.
  • If you do not know at what speed you need to work with a particular product, then start with a minimum, and then increase gradually.
  • Do not try to make mashed potatoes in a blender, it will turn out tasteless, even if it is whipped well.

If your blender model has a whisk attachment, then it is used to whip egg whites. A stationary blender cannot boast of such capabilities. You won’t be able to achieve strong whipping, such as with a mixer, but this will be quite enough to make batter or a cocktail.

Features of using stationary models

Now let's talk a little about how to use a blender, which is a holistic design in which the bowl and engine are interconnected.

Everything is extremely simple here. The product must be cut into cubes and poured into a bowl. After pressing the button, the knives that are in the bowl will chop everything to the desired size or beat. For such a blender in the kitchen, you need to allocate a special place.

  • It is impossible to load hot products into the bowl, because it will quickly lose transparency or turn yellow from this. This caution applies especially to plastic materials.
  • You can not load products under the very lid, stuff them tightly or, on the contrary, throw a few pieces to the bottom without reaching the required minimum.
  • If you have a small family of 2-3 people, then a 1 liter bowl will be enough for you.

Each blender manufacturer advises using the device only after reading the instructions, and these are not just words. Knowing the features of your model, you will better imagine what kind of dishes you can cook. As a result, you will use the device more.

Using different attachments

Each blender can have multiple attachments. Often the question arises, which nozzles can be used for what.

The immersion blender must have a main nozzle on the leg. It is used to grind fruits, herbs, boiled vegetables and liver into puree, mix products when preparing sauces.

The package may include a whisk for beating eggs and a bowl with a small mill knife that allows you to chop nuts and grind meat and vegetables. Some models are equipped with interchangeable multifunctional nozzles that allow you to cut pieces of different shapes. In this case, a real combine appears in your kitchen.

A stationary blender can be equipped with a special nozzle that allows you to crush ice. If there is no such nozzle, then the device cannot be used to grind frozen water or juice.

How to properly clean your blender after use

Any technical device requires cleaning, including a blender. The part in which the engine and gearshift is located should be wiped from above with a damp sponge. For obvious reasons, it is strictly forbidden to immerse it in water or put it in the dishwasher.

The bowl and removable attachments (whisk, knives, disks) can be washed in running water, that is, under the tap. The manufacturer does not recommend sending some models to the dishwasher, but in most cases this can be done, which greatly simplifies the process of cleaning the blender.

If fatty foods have been crushed, then you can use liquid detergent, and then rinse the parts thoroughly, wipe and dry. Clean and dry parts are collected and placed in its place so that it can be used at any time.

Some stationary models have a self-cleaning (self-cleaning) function. It allows you to wash the device very quickly, efficiently and without problems. At the end of the procedure, you just need to pour out the water and wipe the device dry.
