What kind of wood is better to build a bath - the pros and cons of various species

Our grandfathers noted in advance the trees under their bath. They were cut down in winter, when the wood has the lowest percentage of moisture. Such a log house practically does not shrink, and cracking of the walls will be minimal. But even carefully selected trees must meet a number of characteristics:

  1. Have increased resistance to moisture.
  2. Durability.
  3. Do not carry negative energy.

Let's see what features different varieties have, the pros, cons of log cabins in the form of a table:

You can assemble a log cabin from any wood. But for economy, pine wood is more often used. Pine, spruce are available in any region of Russia, but the high resin content makes it impossible to use them for interior decoration of the bath. When heated, the walls and ceiling will begin to release resin, which can cause discomfort when taking procedures.

An aspen bath will last a long time, and any picky owner will like its attractive appearance.

Expensive aspen, cedar and larch are optimally suited for the construction of a log cabin. They tolerate moisture well and do not lose their quality characteristics over time. Baths made of cedar and larch emit antiseptic vapors, and inside the steam room there will be a subtle and healing aroma. But it is not suitable for everyone, so we recommend checking before construction whether the smell of wood will irritate family members. The price of the material is high and does not allow using it for construction.

Larch and aspen are mainly used as the lower crown of the log house. Over the years, wood becomes stronger, and the sauna will last longer.

Linden, birch are available for construction, but we do not recommend building a log house from them. The steam room will be short-lived, it will require repair in a year.

Interior decoration - what kind of wood is better?

In the Russian bath, wood is used not only for the construction of a log house, but also for interior decoration. Baths assembled from foam blocks or bricks can be ennobled from the inside. Wood will give the bath naturalness and environmental friendliness.

Traditionally, wood is used in interior decoration, which is not afraid of moisture and high temperatures. So, pine, spruce are not suitable for interior decoration. Hardwoods are used: linden, oak, aspen.

A bathhouse trimmed inside with lime lining will be pleasant at any high temperatures.

Linden in the interior decoration showed its best side. Even at the highest temperatures, tactile walls and ceilings will be pleasing. Linden has a drawback, it darkens with time. After finishing with clapboard, the bath is covered with antiseptic and fire-resistant compounds.

Aspen and oak in the decoration of the bath are used less frequently due to the high price of the material. But if you want to have a rich environment, oak and aspen are optimal. In order to save on oak lining, aspens are used as an additional one in order to emphasize some details. For example, the canopy is often sheathed with linden clapboard, and the headrest and back are made of oak.

It is very useful to use cedar elements in the steam room. The aroma of cedar has a healing effect. But in young children, it can cause allergies. A completely cedar bath looks attractive, let's take a closer look at this one in the video:

Any tree, expensive aspen, larch, or economical spruce and pine are suitable for building a log cabin. From which tree it is better to build a bath, it is definitely impossible to answer. One wood is used to collect the log house, the other inside the bath. The choice depends on the capabilities of the owners. And proper wood care will help to significantly extend the life of the steam room.
