Ahead of the next annual MWC exhibition in Barcelona, there will be a lot of new products, as always. The exhibition opens on February 26 and ends on March 1. But all high-profile announcements will be held a day or two earlier, Samsung, for example, has always tried to make the presentation of its new products a separate event. Here we will have a list of interesting devices, you will know what to expect from the exhibition.

Alcatel

Alcatel will bring an updated line of smartphones, where there will be mostly inexpensive models. They've been talked about since CES in Las Vegas, but now it's time for the big announcement. Alcatel works closely with operators and retailers in Russia, the company is trying to produce inexpensive and attractive devices.

ASUS

ASUS is preparing an updated generation of Zenfone 5 smartphones, it will be a whole family of models: Zenfone 5, 5 Lite and 5 Max. This time, ASUS experiments with design have taken the company to the steppe where Apple reigns. No need to explain anything, ASUS decided to circle the iPhone X and offer a replica. It's a shame that ASUS' experiments with design failed, and a company with such a rich history eventually came to the conclusion that it simply "circles" Apple.

Huawei

Most likely, Chinese friends will bring new MateBook laptops and a MediaPad M5 tablet to the exhibition. The top-end Kirin 960 processor, 4 GB of RAM, 8.4-inch QHD screen - everything looks beautiful. Another thing is that Android smartphones are much more popular than tablets.

Are you waiting for something else? The new Huawei P11 will be announced at the end of March in Paris. Huawei knows how to do everything right, but you have to wait another month.

LG

Most likely, there will be no updated LG G7 at MWC 2018. The company said that it will once again rethink the mobile direction and release something new, but closer to April-May. Most likely, LG will show the successor to the V30 model, where an artificial intelligence-enabled camera will help translate texts, run searches and shop in stores. LG tries to surprise with something every year, but Samsung can not overtake.

Lenovo (Motorola)

Nothing has been heard about new Lenovo smartphones for a long time, all hope is for Motorola. Most likely, they will show a new inexpensive model Motorola G6, and along with its brothers G6 Plus and G6 Play. I expect large screens of about 5.5-5.7 inches, fresh Qualcomm 450 and 630 processors, and other characteristics in the same vein. Moto traditionally cost a little more than their counterparts, but everything is at a good level: pure Android, decent cameras, and such smartphones work for a long time.

Nokia

Nokia made a lot of noise with the updated Nokia 3310, now it's time for other new products. At the exhibition, the budget Nokia 1 series, a very simple Android Go smartphone, will be announced. In addition to it, there will be Nokia 7 Plus with a large 18:9 screen and a dual camera. They will also show a modest Nokia 4.

Nokia 9 will be brought to the exhibition with a 5.5-inch QHD OLED screen, a dual camera of 13 and 12 megapixels, 128 GB of internal memory and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. At the same time, Nokia will resurrect one of the legends and show the Nokia 8 Sirocco. This model will be an improved version of the Nokia 8 with an OLED screen and a fancy camera.

Samsung

Samsung will be the first to make an announcement where it will introduce the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus. All the details about smartphones leaked in advance, Samsung, as usual, lures with its characteristics: huge screens, top-end hardware, a bunch of features and bells and whistles. Fast charging, wireless charging, water resistant and work with DeX stand when the phone turns into a computer. It remains only to connect a display and a mouse with a keyboard to it. In fact, it will be an improved version of the Galaxy S8, where everything will become even cooler, we have special hopes for the new dual camera in the spirit of Note 8.

Sony

The Japanese plan to surprise with the flagship Xperia XZ Pro with a 5.7-inch OLED screen and 4K resolution, 6 GB of RAM and Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. Sony is trying to improve the cameras in smartphones with each new generation and this time they promise a dual camera. There will also be simpler models: Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact. What will happen with the characteristics is still in question, but Sony loves to make small and powerful smartphones, so I hope that the Japanese will remain faithful to the old traditions.

ZTE

ZTE Blade V9, presumably, will be one of the announcements of the exhibition. It will be a smartphone with an 18:9 screen and Full HD + resolution, a Qualcomm 450 processor, 3/4 GB of RAM, 16 and 5 megapixel cameras and a 3200 mAh battery. Android 8.0 and glass body, it will be a beautiful and inexpensive smartphone.

Boring?

Our technological landing party at the exhibition will actively look for all sorts of interesting things, because all these smartphones have become boring for a long time. Say what you like, but they increasingly look like copies of each other, and it becomes more and more difficult to recognize without special skills.

Judging by the leaks, this year's exhibition will be predictably ordinary. Will any of the participants dare to show new ideas in real devices, and not just concepts? We won't have to wait too long, we'll find out soon enough.

The Mobile World Congress 2018 exhibition is over and the journalists are summing up its results. It's time to take another look at the announcements made and understand which of them are important, which are not, what we saw unexpected.

Of course, everyone was waiting and waiting for the appearance of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 + devices, but Sony, LG, Nokia, Huawei and some others also managed to distinguish themselves. Let's see who exactly proved to be the best.

The best smartphones of the exhibition

It already sounds like a hackneyed cliche, but the Galaxy S9 for 60,000 rubles. many call the best Android smartphone. Here comes the variable aperture camera, the premium frameless design has been improved, new processors are used.

An unexpected newcomer, but since many are looking for better smartphones at a minimal price, it may be in demand. It has an 18:9 screen, a dual telephoto camera, plenty of RAM, a clean version of Android, a powerful processor, and a large battery. The price for all this is only $399.

Sony made a big move and changed the outdated design of its flagship Xperia smartphones. Now they have an aspect ratio of 18:9 screens, screens occupy more than 80% of the body. There are still bezels at the top and bottom, but much smaller than before.

Sony has all the good stuff of today's flagships, including the Snapdragon 845 processor, water resistance, HDR-enabled screens, and great slow-motion cameras. There's even HDR-enabled video recording and 1080p slow-motion video that no one else, not even Samsung, has.

The best tablets of the exhibition

There were few tablets presented, but among them one of the best was Huawei MediaPad M5 with a screen of 8.4 inches. It will be offered at an affordable price of 349 euros, has a sleek design, high battery life and mid-to-high specs, including Harman stereo speakers and LTE support.

The best technologies of the exhibition

There will be a fingerprint scanner inside the screen and a front camera popping up from a recess. The smartphone is not yet retail, but only a concept. This manufacturer already sells the X20 Plus UD smartphone with an in-screen fingerprint scanner, but this model uses the next generation of this technology, where the scanner can be placed anywhere on the screen. What does this mean in practice?

Instead of dragging your finger across the big screen, you can press the middle and the phone will unlock. The technology still has flaws and does not work perfectly, but it looks promising the most and most innovative of those presented at the exhibition. In addition, the front camera is hidden in the body, so the screen is truly bezel-less with no cutouts at the top.

Worst Exhibition Technology

Cutouts again

There was no shortage of cutouts, they are on smartphones from Asus and some Chinese manufacturers who decided to copy the iPhone X. The screens are high resolution and take up most of the cases, but who likes the iPhone X is unlikely to buy Chinese smartphones.

Samsung did it right and removed the top and bottom bezels, made curved edges and created a bezel-less look without having to copy Apple. Judging by the fact that other manufacturers do not show such independence, this year there will be a lot of cutouts on the screens.

Artificial intelligence

If a dollar was given for every mention of artificial intelligence in smartphones, it would be nice to increase your capital. This is a fashionable phrase today, which is mentioned to the place and especially without. Cameras on mobile devices don't need Skynet's mind at all to take photos.

Hello! My name is Katya Frank, I'm a Mobile Dimension Lead Marketer. In this article, I will give a short analysis of the Mobile World Congress exhibition in Barcelona, compare it a little with the same exhibition from GSMA in Shanghai, tell you who should participate in it, and how to organize everything so as not to screw up. I will also tell you what could have been better prepared, what we missed, and what I recommend to everyone who goes there next year. The article will be useful for marketers and business developers of IT companies.

I will not show new products from Samsung and Nokia (but I will show a helicopter) and make reviews of the stands or conduct a tour, there is a lot of information about this part of the exhibition in RuNet, so I would like to highlight a little the side that is not visible to the media. And I will also tell you a little about how to take part in MWC and not go broke at the same time, but this is not advertising, but part of the life experience that we lived.

background

Mobile Dimension is a mobile app developer operating in overseas markets and, in general, we found it logical to participate in MWC Shanghai last year and MWC Barcelona this year.

Last year we went to Shanghai as participants of the Russian pavilion organized by the Ministry of Communications of the Russian Federation. We went to Barcelona with the Russian Export Center and this time we had our own stand within the pavilion.

Next, I will tell you in more detail about the preparation for the trip, about co-financing of the REC and what it is, how to go through the procedure and what you will get as a result

If you are interested in the exhibition right away, I recommend scrolling further, as there is about a page of organizational details ahead that will be useful only to marketers.

To begin with, I will say that, as many people know, participation in such major exhibitions as MWC, Computex Taipei and others, just like that from the street, in my humble opinion, is like a wing from a Boeing. For many, this is an unbearable marketing budget for a brand-building project. Such exhibitions cost from 7,000 euros for Raw Space 6 meters without buildings (we throw about the same amount on the simplest buildings) and up to plus infinity, depending on how little time is left before the event and what your appetites are. Building a city on the floor of a Gazprom-style pavilion is priceless. You can spend three days at the exhibition once, boo and immediately close the company and go to the Cayman Islands to hide from collectors who will come after your soul. The situation is slightly better if you have already participated. You can operate that you are a participant in the second year, demand a discount, try to negotiate. It is a little easier to bargain in China, since all building materials are produced from them and everything is basically cheaper there.

I'll tell you how it can be done significantly cheaper

The Russian Export Center is an organization that provides all kinds of support for Russian exports (including non-commodity) abroad. The support program also includes co-financing (partial financing), i.e. indirect material support for SMEs. I translate into Russian - if you are a small and medium-sized business, you can get co-financing for your participation in a major international event, both as part of a Russian delegation, and separately. Indirect support should be understood as the fact that no one pays you money directly, but takes on a fairly large percentage of your costs. The final amount is different each time depending on the specific event, but I can say from myself that it saves you a lot of marketing budget + gives you a lot of interesting opportunities, such as an extra badge or other benefits from being at the national stand.

For reference: At such major exhibitions as CES, CEBIT or MWC, there are almost always national pavilions. Young companies united in the national pavilion represent themselves on them.

What is the advantage of participating in the national pavilion?

And it's very simple. If you are an abstract startup HighTech Mobile Innovation Inc, then the maximum that you can count on at MWC is a booth from 6 square meters for big money with a simple building. Moreover, what is most offensive, such giants as Nokia, Samsung, ZTE, Huawei and others, buy out space years before the exhibition and have priority over everyone else in choosing a profitable place. As a result, small stands are often pushed into the far corner so as not to spoil the plan and engineering of the building. This year, seats were sold even in the corridors between the pavilions. It is expensive, it makes little sense. There is huge traffic in the corridors, and on the one hand this is good, but on the other hand, in order to use it, you need to make a huge amount of effort to attract their attention.

In general, as they say, it tastes and colours... But from a simple logic, participation at the stand of the national delegation with an area of 100 squares is more profitable than at a stand with an area of 6 squares in the corridor. A large stand is more noticeable, higher, attracts more attention.

A very sad booth of a very curious startup in the escalator bay.

What else does participation in the national stand give?

Of course, you will be printed in the catalog of the pavilion, as well as all sorts of business programs and business events, meetings with business missions from other pavilions and other cultural events. Otherwise, the main point here is participation.

What is required and what awaits you?

First of all, mentally prepare for collecting, filling out and sending a large number of documents, incl. in originals. Everyone who has ever prepared a tender is familiar with this, the list of documents is approximately the same. You will definitely need an extract from the SME and from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities. If you have a special person in the team who can be entrusted with this, consider yourself lucky. And remember that even if at first no one warns about this, then at the end you will definitely be asked for the originals by mail, be prepared for this and keep each piece of paper like the first spring flower. To begin with, you can make an application for registration in the system (that is, become an exporter) and, having passed this stage, evaluate whether you are ready to continue collecting pieces of paper. In the comments, I will be ready to share links if someone needs advice on the process. Get ready for the fact that the whole procedure takes a lot of time. Submit documents in advance and follow the publication of the protocols on the website - whether you were approved for participation in co-financing for the event or not. Feel free to call there to check the status.

Now a little more introductory information about the exhibition itself.

When we arrived in Barcelona we were blown away by the level of organization. Badges were given out on all days at all airport terminals, it was possible to get them in the city, at two, it seems, at two points of issue, as well as in the exhibition center itself (the latter is highly discouraged by the organizers themselves - there are a lot of people). When registering a badge on the site, you can check the box where exactly you want to receive your badge and on what date.

At the airport, a whole floor was dedicated to issuing badges, the navigation “For MWC participants - there” is extremely clear, every 15 meters a volunteer in a uniform red vest will show you the way and tell you.

What caused us total delight was the ticket for the subway. In addition to the badge, all participants receive a metro pass, which is valid for all four days of the exhibition throughout the city. Firstly, the metro in Barça is very expensive, and secondly, the Fira Barcelona exhibition center is located on a separate commercial metro line, the fare for which must be paid separately from the main system, so I can very well imagine what a hell of a crowd would have stood at the payment terminals, if the organizers had not issued tickets in advance.

In the city itself, it’s the same – banners everywhere, navigation everywhere, advertising everywhere, WMC info points everywhere.

Remark. When planning a visit to MWC, take care of housing well in advance. We bought everything in December, but even then the hotel turned out to be about half a million rubles for four, so we rented an inexpensive apartment on Airbnb. But in this case, check if the apartment has heating, it was snowing on our trip to Barcelona.

About the exhibition

When we went to Shanghai last year, we realized how different the Asian world is from the European one even at such global events. If at MWC in Shanghai, almost all manufacturers were Chinese, selling and offering services and products for the domestic market and not particularly trying to even translate their materials, headlines and stands into English, but in Barcelona everything is exactly the opposite. In Fira Barcelona, and these are 9 (nine!) huge halls + corridors and courtyards of a huge walking carnival focused on Europe here and now.

In this regard, what must be done for the MWC in Barcelona is to prepare good, attractive and understandable materials in English, and even better - to get confused and translate them into Spanish. We only translated into English, but didn't translate into Spanish, and to some extent regretted it.

Pavilion 8.1 was entirely devoted to mobile applications and development, promotion and mobile advertising. We ended up in hall 6, where there was just no one, but since it was the REC pavilion, we could not influence the choice of the hall. The problem is that the exhibition does not officially divide the exhibitors into halls, the exhibition divides only by engineering stands, laying them on the plan like in Tetris. Therefore, if it is convenient for the exhibition to move you in order to fit a stand with an area the size of a football field, the exhibition will do it. As a result, there are 9 halls of an endless flow of information that cannot be structured in any way. To get around all nine and not go crazy, you have to use the method of exiting the maze - go all the time on the right side.

If you are a mobile developer and are planning to participate next year- write to the organizers and ask where they plan to place the developer's hall. Why was this important? Because many who come to MWC come immediately with specific tasks, to specific companies and with pre-arranged meetings, and do not go to random halls to click their beaks. As a result, it turns out that if you are a developer, but you are not in the hall you need (in our case, not in 8.1), your audience may simply not know about your booth. Our booth was in the 6th pavilion and it turned out that it was not entirely successful. In Shanghai, there was no such problem, since there were almost no mobile developers there, and the exhibition itself was smaller.

Who knows, perhaps the organizers will start splitting the halls into Apps, Health & Wearable, IoT and other categories to make it easier for visitors to navigate. But so far, such a clear boundary was only in room 8.1. - mobile applications.

Nokia booth at MWC18

First of all, when planning your booth, think about the chip. There are so many stands and such sizes that it is really very difficult to surpass your neighbor. Nokia this year, without too much modesty, simply built a city on half a povillon. Think about the details, find out from the builder what the height of the walls of the adjoining stand is, try not to be lower. Forget about balloons - they are in the past. The squeak of the season - revolving structures suspended on rails from the ceiling, moving elements with lights, all as high as possible, as bright as possible, as loud as possible.

Think over a system of competitions at the stand, do not load anyone with a business program, hire promo girls, put a mustang on the stand and pour beer, give smart watches and invest in your stand promotion. AppsFlyer poured whiskey and played music at a stand decorated as a wild west saloon, which will be remembered for a very long time. Create hype, intrigue around the stand, increase interest, promise everyone a surprise and a private party. We did not have such a chip, since we were extremely limited by the concept of the national pavilion. We are very sorry, next year we will come up with something to surprise.

In general, networking is a huge part of the meaning of being there. Make appointments through the exhibition portal and through the mobile application, do not ignore this opportunity, it's really very convenient. We were constantly meeting with someone, going to 4YFN events and having a lot of meetings at the booth. Now we understand that we could do even more.

Organize business meetings with target customers. At MWC, there are people who privately organize (for money, of course) visits to your booth of various companies you are interested in, you can and should negotiate with such people, these are targeted contacts. Most likely, they will write to you as soon as your company is published on the MWC website. Unfortunately, we did not take advantage of this opportunity, we thought that networking was already enough and we will limit ourselves to business meetings organized by the stand. We are a little sorry.

Negotiate with the giants for six months. Many large companies generally have stands at MWC completely closed from the passing public, exclusively with meeting rooms. It is impossible to get to such stands without prior registration, the registration closes completely sometimes even two months before. Among such companies were Ernst & Young, Google (Android), Boston consulting, Nokia. We did not know about this and could not get to the Android booth.

Meet the crowd of competitors and startups. Evening events and parties are constantly organized at MWC, and this is a great chance to get to know each other and exchange experiences. We went to such events every evening and made a lot of new and useful contacts, literally, from dating in line to the bar!

Try co-branding! Negotiate with partner companies, with large corporations with friendly marketing, share the cost of a stand in half and get benefits from a profitable neighborhood. In the same way, you can simply use the proximity to the stand of the conditional Google, but without prior agreements it will be technically difficult to do.

What else was interesting at the exhibition?

Helicopter from Huawei.

Global Mobile Awards
If you are attending MWC, you can apply for your solution to participate in the Global Mobile Awards. Be careful, applications close in early January, you need to fill out a rather impressive form, then the jury selects. There are many categories, it is quite easy to choose for yourself. At first glance, it seems that it is impossible to compete with giants like Huawei and Zte, but we managed to enter the top five nominees in our category with the Pregnancy Calendar mobile application, and this is a nomination for the Oscars of the mobile world! The awards ceremony looks very cool and really is very similar to the Oscars - red carpets and brilliant TV presenters. And, of course, when your logo is shown from the GLOMO stage, it is a very exciting moment.

There were really a lot of stands. Listing them all is pointless, and this is not a review of the exhibition, but a practical guide to participation.

So, we got to the conclusions.

It makes sense to participate if you:

  • Mobile developer or sell a developer service
  • Produce anything wearable - gadgets, medical devices, fitness trackers, headphones
  • Produce software with versions for mobile devices
  • Implemented mobility technology in your company and want to tell the whole world about it – the Mercedes Benz booth presented the Smart concept car and the new A-classe, stuffed with electronics and mobility
  • In general, anything related to mobility, even if you produce batteries

It definitely does NOT make sense to participate in only one case: if you produce something that is not translated (not localized) at least in English. It is advisable to go to the exhibition only with a fully translated and finished product.

Is it worth it to participate without a stand, go and distribute leaflets, get to know each other?
Yes, but it's not accurate. The entry ticket of the simplest level costs a thousand euros + travel expenses. He gives only passes to the exhibition. To get to additional lectures, you need to get a silver pass, it is immediately much more expensive. If there is no way to set up a stand, then it is definitely better to go as a visitor than not at all. But at the same time, you need to understand that there will be a million like you, mixed with a million promo staff with leaflets.

It will be difficult, but fun.

Barcelona hosts the Mobile World Congress. What surprises gadget manufacturers this year?

Nokia. Return of the legend

A year ago, at the same MWC exhibition, the Finnish brand Nokia presented an updated model of the Nokia 3310 phone. Despite the fact that the device did not look like the legendary indestructible "brick", its sales went very well.

On the wave of success, the company decided to please its fans with another remake. The choice fell on another well-known model - Nokia 8810, which became popular in the late nineties after the release of the film "The Matrix", where it was actively used by the characters.

Unlike the old model, the updated device can connect to high-speed networks of the fourth generation 4G. The 2.4-inch screen supports a low resolution of 320x240 pixels, and the amount of built-in memory is only four gigabytes.

Popular social networking applications and Google services are installed on the phone. Nokia 8810 also supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and can be used as a router. And pushing the buttons is just an incomparable pleasure, inaccessible to smartphone owners. The device also has a camera.

The cost of the new Nokia, which looks like a banana in a yellow case, will be 79 euros. Interestingly, the original model from the nineties cost customers almost ten times more.

By the way, at the same time as the Nokia 8810, craftsmen from the reorganized Finnish-Chinese company presented an ultra-budget smartphone called Nokia 1. Its cost is 69 euros. Obviously, the company decided not to compete with the giants of the market with their smartphones for a thousand dollars, but to go into cheap devices.

The smartphone's 4.5-inch display has a low resolution of 854x480 pixels, a not very powerful processor, and two standard cameras - a 5-megapixel main and a 2-megapixel front camera. But it runs the latest version of Android 8.0 Oreo, more precisely, its version called Go Edition, designed for low-power gadgets.

Experts believe that for residents of poor countries, both new items will be just right.

Champions by price

One of the most discussed exhibits of MWC this year was the new flagship smartphones Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+. This is very interesting, since nothing fundamentally new has appeared in the models. Nevertheless, the novelties deserve attention and a story about them.

The phones are equipped with 5.8 and 6.2 inch screens with excellent resolution of 2960x1440 pixels and 18:9 aspect ratio. Unlike the Galaxy S8, the fingerprint scanner is located in the new models not on the side of the camera eye on the rear panel, but on the bottom. Hopefully, there will be fewer complaints from users who constantly miss and smear the lens.

The main change is connected with the camera, which can adjust the aperture (the width of the hole for the passage of light). This allows you to take good pictures in different lighting conditions - both very bright and insufficient. Another "feature" of the camera is a high-speed shooting mode at a speed of 960 frames per second and subsequent slow-motion playback.

Samsung, introducing the new Galaxy, focused on the so-called selfie moji. These are moving cartoon characters that the new smartphone is trying to draw similar to the owner. You need to allow the device to scan your face - and a character will appear on the screen, remotely similar to you and repeating all your movements. You can embed it in chats, make animated GIFs with it.

It is already known when the new items will appear in Russia - this will happen on March 16. For the younger version of the Galaxy S9 with 64 gigabytes of memory (microSD cards are supported), you will need to pay 59,990 rubles, for the older one - 66,990 rubles. Connoisseurs advise to wait a bit - in a few months, when the hype subsides, prices will be noticeably lower.

Laptop with secret button

It would seem that what could be unusual in an ordinary laptop? But engineers from the Chinese company Huawei have found a way to improve the "laptops" familiar to everyone.

The model called MateBook X Pro differs not only in its ultra-thin body and display with very thin frames (the developers paid tribute to modern frameless smartphones). Thin bezels are not only beautiful, but also functional - a larger display can fit into a case of the same dimensions.

But the most important thing is not in the powerful stuffing, the abundance of various ports for connecting additional accessories and the powerful resolution of 3000x2000 pixels (although this is also very important). The highlight of the Huawei MateBook X Pro is the camera, which is built into - you'd never guess - the keyboard.

Yes exactly. the retractable camera lens is hidden under a cover that resembles a regular key, it just has a camera icon on it. The "fake" button is between the F6 and F7 keys. Hopefully, rarely anyone uses them, otherwise accidental clicks are inevitable.

Such a solution has obvious advantages - for example, it is very simple to close the camera to avoid surveillance (and many are afraid of it). It is enough to press the cover, and the lens will disappear. In addition, during a video chat, the owner of the laptop will look almost in the face of the interlocutor, and not over his head. But there is also a minus - for example, it will be difficult to print and communicate via video, because the fingers will cover the camera. The laptop also has a fingerprint scanner, and it weighs only 1.3 kilograms.

Many, of course, will be scared away by the price - the basic version will be sold for 1,500 euros, or about 100 thousand rubles. That's quite a lot for a 14-inch laptop. On the other hand, it has enough convenient "chips" that make working with it easier. And do not forget about the ultra-thin body - less than one and a half centimeters at the thickest point.

Either a smartphone or a battery

In modern smartphones, a 3000 mAh battery is standard. This allows most devices to survive from morning to evening in active use. However, not everyone, due to inner convictions, is ready to live "half an hour away from the outlet." Smartphones with more capacious batteries have been invented for them - from 5000 mAh and above.

But the absolute record holder in this category is the Energizer Power Max P16K Pro, which will be on sale in the fall of 2018 and will cost $500, or about 30,000 rubles. As you can guess from the 16K symbols in the name, it will be equipped with a 16000 mAh battery.

For comparison, a smartphone with a 12,000 mAh battery is sold in Russia. This is still a record, which, however, will soon be broken.

The case of the new "energizer" turned out to be massive - it is more than twice as thick as the iPhone 7 due to the thick battery. The capacious battery also affected the weight, which amounted to about 300 grams. The characteristics of the device came out quite good, but not outstanding - a 6-inch screen with a resolution of 2160x1080 pixels, a 16-megapixel main camera. The manufacturer did not regret the RAM either - it turned out to be as much as 6 gigabytes there.

It is not yet known whether this monster can be used as an external battery for other devices, but I want to believe that yes. How many days Energizer Power Max P16K Pro will be able to work from a fully charged battery, it's scary to even think. We can assume that a week.

Fast and even faster

The more devices connected to the Internet, the more data they need to transfer. This means that it is necessary to increase the "thickness" of mobile communication channels so that any connected gadget does not feel constrained in speed.

At MWC, Qualcomm, the world-famous microprocessor manufacturer, showed how 5G networks will work. During the "field tests" the engineers managed to achieve a data download speed of 1.4 gigabits per second. This is more than 20 times faster than current 4G networks operating around the world.

Along with the download speed, the speed of the reaction of the remote server to the user's request will increase. If now you have to wait 24 milliseconds for a “response”, then in fifth-generation networks this figure will be about 8 milliseconds. That is, waiting delays will become as short as possible or even imperceptible.

Qualcomm claims that during testing they tried to get as close as possible to the real conditions of using cellular communications. Therefore, these speed indicators are what awaits ordinary users in a year and a half.

Twin but not brother

The electronics show would not be as interesting without clones of the legendary iPhones from China. This time a Chinese company called Leagoo brought a device called S9 to Barcelona. It can safely be called the cheapest clone of the "dozens" - the cost of the device is only $ 150, or about 8200 rubles.

The manufacturer himself describes his creation as follows: "The world's first iPhone X running Android." The smartphone has almost all the signs of "X" - and a cutout at the top of the 5.85-inch screen, and gestures, including minimizing all applications with a "thumbs up" movement.

Not without a face recognition system for the owner - the Leagoo S9 can also do this (the only question is how well this recognition works). However, if you wish, you can use the fingerprint scanner - it is located on the rear panel, under the lens of the 13-megapixel camera.

Mobile World Congress is one of the most significant technological events of the year. Large and small companies tend to present their new products there. At MWC 2018 in Barcelona, various companies showed a lot of interesting things. The new smartphone Samsung Galaxy S9 was presented at this event. But the most interesting smartphones LG (G7), HTC (U12) and Huawei (P11) were not among the new devices of the exhibition.

Productive smartphones, many functions and applications. All this makes the mobile industry happy all the time. But there are also quite a few users who are quite satisfied with a regular push-button phone, the modest functionality of which, of course, I would like to supplement with the ability to install some necessary applications. At the exhibition of mobile technologies in Barcelona, a new version of the OS, already known to many users, was announced, thanks to which such an opportunity appears.

The Brazilian company Sikur, which focuses on the production of secure smartphones, brought to the first device for active users of cryptocurrencies. The novelty, not distinguished by an outstanding design or unique characteristics, without fail encrypts all information - from telephone conversations to web browser history - and includes a built-in crypto wallet.

In addition to the Galaxy S9 flagships from Samsung, the exhibition also pleases with other devices. Some of them are significantly different from most smart phones of our time. A striking example of such a smartphone was the Power Max P16K Pro, the main quality of which is not hardware, software, and even less design. It realized the dream of many users about a battery that does not need constant charging. What are the very first impressions of this amazing phone?

What do users expect from the novelties of the exhibition 2018? Stylish design, powerful hardware and exciting new software features. All this, of course, is wonderful, but some users would prefer all this to be able to charge their mobile device less often. Especially if at the same time the smartphone looks quite modern and will please with its other characteristics. It is this device that will see the light, among others, at the upcoming exhibition.

At the exhibition of mobile technologies, users will see not only modern smartphones, but also the things that make these devices so loved by a wide audience - new technologies. As previously expected, it was during this significant exhibition for the industry that the long-awaited release of a new augmented reality platform from the search giant ARCore took place, about which high-tech connoisseurs already knew a little before. What does this mean for upcoming Android smartphones and users of these popular devices?

The first running smartphones will be presented during the Mobile Congress in Barcelona. Hiroshi Lochheimer, Senior Vice President of Google, spoke about this. According to him, several devices based on a lightweight version of the OS will be shown at the event at once in order to provide consumers with more choice.
