Go to the website www. direct. yandex. ru using your username and password. At the bottom of the page, in the TOOLS section, select the DIRECT COMMANDER link. On this page you can learn about the main advantages of this program, those that I did not mention. On the right, click on the INSTALL button.

After installation on your PC, you will be able to log into your Ya.Direct account via Direct Commander only if you have at least one advertising company, even a test draft. After this, the program interface will open, a window divided into 3 main tabs.

  1. Campaigns. In the campaigns tab, you can easily load campaigns by clicking the arrow button on the toolbar. Also configure the settings in the Settings tab.
  2. Ad groups. In the second tab, you can configure Settings at the advertising campaign level.
  3. Announcements and Phrases.

If you have an agent account, there will be another tab with a list of clients.

In the toolbar, the last button is PANEL SIZES, I usually select the view in which only the last two tabs are visible in the window, because I do not need the Campaign level for editing. And I’m making the ANNOUNCEMENTS AND PHRASES window larger to make it more convenient to work.

For example, let's copy an existing ad group and paste it using the right mouse button. Then we will remove all keywords from the last tab. I already have a list of keywords prepared. On the toolbar, select the icon with the image of a new document and add new phrases to the window that appears. (I edit the keywords a little before adding)

In my example, it turned out that there were more characters than allowed by the Commander. And that's why an error icon appeared next to the ad group. It can be corrected by clicking on the BREAK GROUP button.

But before that, let's try to make a cross-backing track

To do this, find the icon with the image of a document and a pencil (editing), select ADJUST PHRASES in the pop-up window, then ADJUST CROSSINGS AND REMOVE DUPLICATES, OK. Then APPLY.

After that, I got an error in the COST PER CLICK column. To fix this, find the icon with the PRICE MASTER magic wand, click, set the click price, for example, 3 rubles. and no more than 3 rubles. Check the box FOR ALL PHRASES. Then INSTALL.

The error has now been resolved. The only thing left to fix is ​​to capitalize all keywords. To do this, select the icon with the image of a document and a pencil (editing), then CHANGE PHRASE CASE, action TITLE PHRASES, APPLY.

After these changes, return to the AD GROUPS tab, click on your ad group next to which there is an error icon and select BREAK AD GROUP. This way, several more ad groups are created with the same ads and bids, which is very convenient.

Direct Commander is the Direct interface, which was designed to make it easier to work with large advertising networks.

DC makes it possible to:

  • Easily manage multiple keywords, ads, campaigns, and clients.
  • Create advertising campaigns by loading RO from any files.
  • Make large-scale modifications to the Republic of Kazakhstan.
  • Find a keyword among thousands of others in a couple of clicks.
  • Find a keyword that relates to various RCs and RO groups.
  • Find an advertisement among many other advertisements.
  • Find all POs that may belong to different campaigns or groups.
  • Perform parallel editing of a large number of keywords.
  • Make similar, similar modifications to a large number of phrases.
  • Change links and text in a large number of advertisements.

Operating principle of DC

The Commander uses API technology from Poison. If we talk about the user, then we can say that work through the DC is performed like this:

  • First, download data on campaigns and clients from Direct.
  • We create or edit the Republic of Kazakhstan. All this is saved on your PC.
  • We send the entered data to the Yandex Direct server.

Remember that the work of the DC with the server is not carried out automatically. It is imperative to use a human command.

Let's get started: You are an agency

During the first launch of the DC, you will need to enter your account information in the Poison. After completing the authorization process, all panels in the DC will be empty, since information has not been received from the server. To get information, you need to click on the “Get list of clients” button; when this is done, you need to click on the button to get advertising clients for the selected client. After receiving the RC you need to “Get groups”.

Let's get started: You are an advertiser

The sequence of work is the same as for an agency. Only by default, people who are clients of agencies cannot use the POISON API.

All data that you can work with in the Poison is displayed in the Commander. The client’s selection in the first panel is displayed in adjacent panels, his RK and parameters. If you select not a client, but a representative of an advertising agency, then you will see all the campaigns that this representative can work with.

Groups, RO and keywords

The Advertisements tab allows you to look at a thumbnail of the PO, and the ad group tab shows a thumbnail of one of the ads in this group.

By double clicking on the sketch, you will see a table where you can edit the PO.

The Phrases tab greyed out those that are inactive:

  • Keys that were disabled due to low click-through rates.
  • keys that are included in stopped or not started RO and RK.

Selecting a large number of elements in Commander

If you hold down either Ctrl or Shift, you can select several ads, groups, keywords and advertising campaigns at once. To select all the elements that are on the tab, you need to click on the first one, and then use the key combination Shift + End.

To determine where (to which campaign and group) a key or RO belongs, the links that can be seen at the top of the tab help.

This tool is usually used for:

  • quickly search for keys or ROs that are included in different RCs or groups;
  • setting bids on a massive scale;
  • editing keys and POs en masse, using the replacement function.

At the bottom of the tabs are filters that allow you to quickly select items.

You can use the following filters:

  • Text filter.
  • Lightning. Used to select modified objects to send to the Yandex Direct server.
  • An asterisk. Using the appropriate button, you will select all objects that are marked with a star.
  • Funnel. This button hides or shows inactive objects.

Setting up columns in tables

The Ad Groups, Campaigns, as well as Phrases and Ads tabs allow you to customize the display of the sign’s columns:

  • You can change the order of the columns by dragging the mouse.
  • You can show and hide columns using the context menu. To call it, you need to right-click on the column header.

We receive data in the DC from the Yandex Direct server

To download data from the server, you need, as mentioned above, to work manually. If you are a representative of an agency, you must first select the desired client, and then, using the gray down arrow key, download the information. If you are an advertiser, then immediately click on this arrow. After this, you need to download data using the same keys for all campaigns that you want to work with.

Sending data to the YaD server

All settings made will begin to work after you send them to the Poison server. You can send the entire RC, or you can only send its parameters. You can't send individual ad groups.

After selecting the desired advertising campaigns (the desired campaign), you need to click on the gray up arrow key. Campaigns that can be sent to the server have a lightning icon next to their name. If there is a red circle with a white “brick” next to the campaign, then this advertising campaign contains errors and cannot be uploaded to the server. If you hover your cursor over this icon, a tooltip will show you exactly what error was made.

Creating an advertising campaign

To create a RC, you need to do the following:

  • Select a client (if you represent an agency).
  • Click on the “Campaign Creation” button in the corresponding tab.
  • Set the required settings on the RK parameters tab.
  • Create the required PO groups on the ad groups tab.
  • Configure advertising settings.
  • On the Phrases tab, configure the keywords: enter the desired keywords and specify the priority and cost per click for them.
  • Upload the created RC to the Yandex Direct server.

Note. To set up a business card or add an image, you need to double-click on the Business Card field or the Image Name field, respectively.

Adding keywords

To add keys, you first need to select a group, and then click on the button for creating “new phrases”. The result of this will be the opening of a window where you can enter or paste keywords.

To specify new phrases, you can use the following methods:

  • write them on a line using a comma as a separator.
  • Enter keywords into a column one at a time.
  • use the generation principle, for example, (repair|renovate) (house|apartment).

Keyword generation

If you use the above example to create keywords, namely: “(repair|renovate) (house|apartment)”, then as a result you will get the following key phrases: renovating a house, renovating an apartment, renovating a house, renovating an apartment.

Importing keywords from external files

To import data from files with XLS, CSV or TXT extensions (in general, a document that has tabular layout), you need to click on the import data from file button, and then select the required document.

If the file does not have table markup, then you need to use the key to import keywords from the buffer.

As a result, the window for importing ads from the table will open. If as a result of these actions you see unreadable text, then you need to configure the encoding used on the Language tab. After that, click on “Apply” and indicate the types of information that are in the columns. If there are incorrect values ​​in one or another column, they will be highlighted in pink.

If everything is configured correctly, in your opinion, then you need to create a new AD for these keywords. If the import did not occur correctly or correctly, then you will see the familiar red icon with a white “brick”.

After correcting the noted errors, you need to configure the RK parameters and send it to the Poison server.

Important detail. Any Direct Commander user can import all (or selected) RCs into one file with a CSV extension. You can make the necessary settings in this file and then import it back.

Copying advertising campaigns in DC

Sequencing:

  • Select the client whose PO you want to copy.
  • Select RK.
  • Activate the copy key combinations for your OS (for Windows it’s Ctrl+C).
  • If you need to copy the RC for another client, then you need to select it on the “Clients” tab.
  • Activate the insert key combinations for your OS (for Windows it’s Ctrl+ V).
  • Make changes to the created copy.
  • Upload the campaign to the Yandex Direct server.

After sending an advertising campaign to the Yandex Direct server, it receives the “Draft” status. After this, it can be sent to the Poison Moderators for approval. The advertising campaign will start working when moderation is successful and payment is made. You cannot pay for an advertising campaign through DC; this can only be done using the Yandex Direct web interface.

To send a campaign for moderation, start it, stop it, archive or unarchive it, you need to change its state:

  • First, select the desired RK.

For both ads and campaigns, the selected modifications must be uploaded to the server.

Advertising campaigns

DC allows you to perform operations of copying and moving DC, along with groups, keys and RO. To do this you need:

  • select the desired advertising campaigns on the Campaigns tab.
  • use the keyboard shortcuts Ctrl+C and Ctrl+X to copy and move, respectively. We will further call these actions OP_KOP.
  • To insert the RC into the desired location, you need to use the key combination Ctrl + V. We will further call these actions OP_VST.

Ad groups

To copy and move ad groups to DC you need:

  • Select the required RCs.
  • Execute OP_KOP.
  • Select the advertising campaign where you want to paste the copied ad group.
  • Execute OP_VST.

Advertisements

  • Select the required RCs.
  • Select the desired ad groups.
  • Select the desired advertisements.
  • Execute OP_KOP.
  • Select the group where you want to paste the copied advertisements.
  • Execute OP_VST.

Phrases

For operations of copying and moving keywords in the DC you need:

  • Select the required RCs.
  • Select the desired ad groups.
  • Select the desired key phrases.

Inserting and copying column content in a recreation center

In Direct Commander, you can copy and paste everything contained in a column. This allows you to quickly transfer information between the DC and other programs and in the middle of the Commander itself.

Selecting the columns

  • To select a column, you need to right-click on the header and select the context menu item called “Select Column”.
  • If you need to select several columns, you need to select them sequentially with LMB, and then perform the same operations as for one column.

Copying information in a column

  • First, select the columns that need to be copied.
  • Right-click on the title and select the context menu item called “Copy Columns”. This data ends up on the clipboard, from where it can be pasted into a messaging program, text editor or electronic tablet.

Inserting data into columns

To insert data, you can take an array of data from a different number of rows and columns. Data for copying can be taken directly into the recreation center or in an external file. How does this happen:

  • Data is inserted only into columns that are being edited.
  • Before inserting data, you need to select the required columns. If this is not done, then data will be inserted into columns that go one after another (in a row).
  • Blank lines at the end are not inserted.

Saving data from DC to file

Can be exported to DC, RO groups and campaigns to a file with the XLS extension. Just remember that the information for export is taken not from the YD, but from the DC, so before exporting you need to take the latest data from the Yandex Direct server.

Find and replace functions...

When working with the search and replace functions, you can substitute a new fragment after, before, or instead of the found fragment.

You can make changes without performing a search. To do this, in the search field, you need to select “All values”.

To clarify the parameters, use the fine settings block. Replacement is carried out both for one element and for all at once.

Using DC, you can almost instantly correct errors, change the text, links and titles of advertisements, even when they belong to different campaigns or groups.

  • First select RK.
  • Select an ad group.
  • To search and replace, you can use the entire ad in the group or select some of them.
  • After selecting the ads you want to edit, click on the corresponding button (gray pencil in a gray rectangle).
  • We specify the parameters for the replacement.

in keywords

  • Select the desired advertising campaigns.
  • Select ad groups.
  • If you need to work only with individual keys, then you also need to select them. If you do not select anything, the search and replacement procedure will be performed in all keywords.
  • After selecting the keywords you need to edit, click on the corresponding button (gray pencil in a gray rectangle).
  • We specify the replacement parameters.

Setting up several advertising campaigns in DC

If you want, you can set the same display strategies, geotargeting and time targeting, for several advertising campaigns at a time.

To do this, first select the Advertising Campaign, and then enter the required values ​​on the advertising campaign parameters tab.

In DC you can work with the cost of clicks for many selected keywords, which can be in different campaigns, groups, ads.

  • First, select the RCs you require.
  • Then select the PO groups you require.
  • Now you can work with the cost per click for the keywords you need.
  • To do this, click on the button with the “magic wand” (the button for setting bets).
  • The bet cost window will open. You can specify bids only in search, only in the Yandex advertising network, or both.
  • After assigning all prices, click on the “Install” button.

We separate keywords in DC by words

Dividing keywords by words, one keyword is divided into two keywords:

  • The selected word is added to one key phrase.
  • For another phrase, this word becomes a negative word. If you take the key phrase “sell a house” and divide it using the word “price”, then, in the end, there will be two phrases “sell a house price” and “sell a house – price”

Service parameters in quick links

Direct Commander has two things: Parameter 2 and Parameter 1, which you will not find in the standard Poison interface. These parameters are automatically added to quick links. Subsequent analysis of these parameters allows you to monitor keyword transitions and show additional data to users, and so on.

Limitations of Direct Commander

Technical limitations

  • Any actions with campaigns are limited to 100 per 1 day.
  • You can add or modify RO only 1 thousand times for RO per day.
  • The number of all operations is limited to 50 thousand per day.

If you exceed these limits, then you can perform all subsequent actions at intervals of ten minutes.

What is Direct.Commander? This application, developed by Yandex specialists, is an indispensable program for context managers. After all, the process does not stop with preparing materials and launching an advertising campaign. For placement to show proper effectiveness, it is necessary to develop a personal approach to advertising each service, create several campaigns and a large number of ad groups. In general, the entire process, no matter what changes are made, is carried out in three main steps.

  1. We launch Commander and then make the necessary changes. Here you can get the latest information on any of your clients, as well as their campaigns: ad groups, ads and phrases. If you need to create a campaign again, this can also be done through the program in offline mode.


To ensure your workflow doesn't go to waste, before you start editing any campaign, you should first get the latest changes and only then start making adjustments.

Among other things, Direct.Commander has the advantage of working with different clients at the same time. This can be not only searching for key phrases or ads, but also setting bids, editing words, replacing landing pages, headings or text descriptions in blocks. It is very convenient that all information about accommodation is presented in a single window, but you can change the service interface to suit your needs through a button on the main panel.

How to upload a campaign to Direct.Commander

To optimize your workflow, Direct.Commander allows you to download advertising materials through its interface. To do this, it is enough to prepare a file where the advertisements will be placed in the form of a table. For example, you can use the Yandex template itself - you can download it in the bottom panel of the “My Campaigns” menu -> “Campaign Management” -> XLS/XLSX -> “File Template”.

After the file is ready, we go to Commander to the “Campaigns” tab and click the “Import campaigns from file” button.

The system will prompt us in a new window to select the required file to upload to the server. Select the file with the campaign, then click “Open”. The “Import ads from table” window will appear in Commander.

Scroll the blue sliders down and to the right to make sure that the system has correctly identified all types of columns, that the data is recognized correctly and that there are no hieroglyphs. In my example there are no unparsed strings, and this is the best option.

Once the campaign is loaded, go to the ad groups section and click on the “Options” tab. Here you can make changes to the settings.

The campaign will appear in the Yandex.Direct interface immediately after we click the well-known “Send campaign to server” button.

How to add ads to Direct.Commander

After the active campaign is already loaded and running, the first placement optimization may be required, which includes adding new text blocks. This process is easy and can be done in just a few clicks. To begin with, as we already know, you will need to download the latest changes from the server, and then go to the “Announcements” section on the tab of the same name. Here we will see the ads that are already used in the campaign. In this case, there can be one text block, or there can be many ads to increase the impact on the target audience and expand coverage. You can add a new creative through the “Add ad” button.

It is imperative to indicate the main elements of the ad: headings, text and links. If this is enough, you can send the campaign to the server. However, if possible, I recommend expanding the text block as much as possible with additional elements: business cards, images, clarifications, and quick links. We'll talk about how to add the latter later.

Now we will look at how to add quick links in Direct.Commander. To do this, you can manually enter data into the appropriate fields on the advertisements tab. However, there are often so many ads that only a filter can help with editing.

Click “Multi-edit” -> “Search and Replace”.

In the “Search” field we put *. Then click the checkboxes, as in the example below.

How to make a cross-backing track in Direct.Commander

An equally important feature is adding negative keywords in Direct.Commander. Of course, there are other options for cross-tracking in a campaign, but Commander, in my opinion, is the most convenient service.

As in other stages, first we get the latest changes in the campaign. Then go to the “Ads” section and click the “Phrases” tab. Select the multi-edit button and click on “Adjust phrases”.

To say that using Direct Commander is much more convenient than working in the Direct interface means to say nothing. Therefore, we will analyze the convenience of the program using real examples. And here are 7 arguments “ BEHIND". While searching for useful material for this article, I discovered two new functions that I was not aware of before. Read to the end!

Argument 1 Cross minus or cross minus

I have already told you about Yandex operators, in particular about operator minus "-". It is used to exclude impressions for queries that are not of interest to us. In addition to excluding “garbage” queries, I use the minus operator for the so-called cross minusation. Let's say our advertising campaign contains the following phrases:

If a user types the request “buy a vacuum cleaner in Moscow”, then our advertisement can be shown both for this phrase and for the phrases “buy a vacuum cleaner” and “vacuum cleaner”. How can the system determine which phrase to select for display? In this case, to avoid confusion and competition between phrases, we use the function cross-minus, which is provided in the Direct Commander program. Please note that the Google AdWords Editor program (a program for automating work in Google Adwords) does not have such a function. And if there is a need for cross-minusation in Adwords, then you have to resort to third-party services.

To cross-minus in Direct Commander, just click on the “ Multi-edit", select "Adjust phrases" from the drop-down list, then Adjust intersections" and click OK." The program will perform the required action. Look at the example of how simply this happens.

Argument 2 Removing duplicates

It is completely logical to argue in favor of Direct Commander with such a function as “Removing duplicates”. Similar to cross-minus, removing duplicates allows you to avoid competition within the same advertising campaign. This function is called by the same button “ Multi-edit" Only now we select “Delete duplicates”. Try it, it's not difficult!

Before I opened the case change function in Direct Commander, I used the Word text editor. I copied the phrases into Word, used the Register function, and then copied the phrases again into the ad campaign in Excel. Now you can do this in just a few clicks, without leaving your place. Argument 6 Filter

  • adding a phrase - 2 points;

Disable keywords.

There are times when a specialist mistakenly loads non-targeted queries into a campaign. If we created a separate ad group for each request, it will be difficult to turn them off or delete them. Especially if the queries do not contain common words. In Commander, you can open all the keywords of your campaigns at once and, analyzing their list, disable unnecessary ones.

Placement of negative keywords in the campaign.

This is useful in search campaigns - the program analyzes all key queries and refines them using negative keywords. Everything is done by adjusting phrases in the same window where queries are disabled:

This function allows you to remove implicit duplicate requests. Such as rearrangement of words and duplicate word forms:

This can be very useful if you need to template edit a large campaign. For example, you generated a campaign in Excel and misspelled the word. Let's say you sell Hyundai cars, and your keywords include "Hyndai". You need to search and replace for all keywords:

Massive keyword matching changes.

To change a match from broad to phrasal, you must put quotation marks around each keyword. One option is through search and replace in Commander. We need to check the “Use substitutions” checkbox and alternately first add a quotation mark at the beginning and then at the end of the phrase:

Errors when working with Direct Commander:

  • Editing a campaign without downloading the latest changes. Before changing anything in campaigns, you should download the campaigns themselves and separately the data with which you will work from the server.
  • Violation of Yandex.Direct rules when creating a campaign from a file: ad texts and headings are longer than the permissible limits, prohibited characters in ads: everything that does not relate to the alphabet, numbers and punctuation marks.
  • The encoding of the Excel file is incorrect (it should be in UTF-8 encoding).
